Last weekend's German Weekend was one for the books.

To everyone who joined us, thank you. The dining room was full, the kitchen was humming, and the compliments on both the food and service meant the world to our entire team. It took a tremendous effort from our staff, and a whole lot of patience, kindness, and enthusiasm from our guests to make it such a memorable weekend. We are incredibly grateful for your support.

If you missed German Weekend—or if there was one dish you never got around to trying—we have some good news.

This weekend, we're featuring an Open-Faced Sauerbraten.

Our chefs prepared plenty of our traditional German-style beef roast for the weekend, and while many guests understandably gravitated toward favorites like schnitzel and sausages, there was still some beautifully braised sauerbraten waiting in the wings. Rather than tuck it away for another year, we're giving it an encore performance.

Tender beef roast, slowly braised German-style until it practically falls apart, piled high over thick sliced bread and finished with our sweet-tangy homemade gravy. Served alongside roasted new potatoes and seasonal vegetables.

If you've always been curious about German cuisine but weren't quite ready to dive into a full traditional dinner, this is a delicious place to start. Familiar, comforting, and packed with the rich flavors that made German Weekend such a success.

At $25, it's a hearty plate that just might become a new Pleasant Lake Inn favorite. Comes with a fresh house salad to start! 🇩🇪

🇩🇪 A little secret about German Weekend...

While Friday and Saturday get most of the attention, SUNDAY might just be our favorite day to enjoy the German menu.

The pace is a little more relaxed, and with our Sunday hours from 1–6 PM, you can enjoy a hearty German feast in the afternoon and still have plenty of the day left afterward. If you're looking for the most flexibility in dining times, Sunday is a wonderful option.

We still have tables available this evening (Friday), and we'd love to see you. Saturday reservations are filling in nicely, with the most availability currently at the earlier and later dinner hours.

If you're thinking about joining us this weekend, we STRONGLY ENCOURAGE you to make a reservation before you arrive. It allows us to prepare for your visit and have your table ready whenever possible. Walk-ins are always welcome, but during German Weekend there may be a wait for a table, particularly during peak dining hours. Dining at the bar is an option too.

🇩🇪 A few times each year, our kitchen takes a trip to Germany 🇩🇪

Next weekend only, we're serving house-made German specialties including slow-braised sauerbraten, crispy pork schnitzel, grilled bratwurst and knockwurst, German potato pancakes, Bavarian lentil soup, warm German potato salad, pretzels with beer cheese, homemade apfelmus, and more.

The sauerbraten alone starts over a week in advance, slowly brined with onions, spices, and traditional ingredients before being braised until fork-tender and finished with its signature sweet-tangy gravy.

Whether you're joining us for the first time or making your annual pilgrimage back for schnitzel and sauerbraten, we can't wait to share another memorable German Weekend with you.

Our featured special this week is the Tender Sliced Smoked Beef — juicy, in-house-smoked NY strip steak, thinly sliced and smothered in rich gravy, served with buttery mashed potatoes and sautéed seasonal vegetables. The last time we ran this special was in 2021!!! Come and get it. Looked so hard for a photo but alas wanted to get it out so here we go. But!!!!

Not on the menu, order a fish sandwich! So dang good!

💥 This weekend's special is our big, juicy, perfect pork chop with creamy peppercorn gravy!

We’ve also added our new Boneless Chicken Wing Basket to the pub menu 🍗 Crispy, nicely breaded and loaded with tender chicken inside. Nate and Andy both swear it’s one of the best fried baskets coming out of the kitchen right now.

And for the warmer weather crowd — our new Summer Salad is officially on the menu 🥗 Packed with mixed greens, hard boiled egg, pecans, dried cherries and all the fixings. Add grilled chicken or shrimp and make it dinner.

We're running a lineup that feels a little more like a “treat yourself” kind of weekend…

Lobster ravioli is back — big, rich, and exactly what you want when you’re not cooking for anyone but yourself.

Creamy Florentine with fresh spinach and tagliatelle if you're leaning towards even more comfort. Add chicken, shrimp or scallops to make it divine!
