It’s Friday night and I’m not cooking, it’s just me and Mr Frugalist for dinner tonight so of course I went to my stash in the freezer to get the American chop suey I froze weeks ago. I think for the moment, I’m winning!

We made it to Friday, friends! Phew! 😅

Now those pesky groceries are staring me down like they pay the bills around here. Spoiler: they don't. I do. 🙄

So first things first. I'm grabbing the sales flyers, raiding the pantry and freezer for what we actually NEED (not what the end cap tells me I need), and doing a little menu planning. I'll post my menu board when it's done.

What are we having this week? Honestly? No clue. Not a single one. 🤷‍♀️

But I DO know tomorrow is chicken broth day, and I've got a glorious stash of odds and ends ready to toss in that pot. Nothing wasted around here!

Good morning, Frugal Friends!

What day are we on? … Oh, right, THURSDAY! 😂 I honestly had to check!

I’ve got my fire going beautifully this morning. I cannot say enough good things about those Rutland fire starters. Love, love, love them! They make getting that wood stove going so much easier.

It’s another morning of stacking firewood around here. I swear, that woodpile has become my second job! But every piece stacked is another piece of wood ready to keep us warm this winter.

I wanted something easy for dinner tonight, so we’ve decided on breakfast for dinner! PANCAKES! 🥞

I’m going to enlist my granddaughter to help with the flipping. And since we’re already making pancakes, we’ll make a big batch and freeze the extras for quick breakfasts for the kids. Do the work once, enjoy the convenience later. That’s how we roll around here!

And naturally, there will be good music playing while we work. Of course, my granddaughter and I have VERY different ideas about what constitutes good music, so we’ll have to take turns choosing. 😂 A little of hers, a little of mine. Fair is fair!

Nothing particularly glamorous happening here today. Just getting things done, making good use of what we have, and hopefully having a few laughs along the way.

It’s a cold, rainy day, so roasted chicken and vegetables sounded just right. I’m using the rest of the potatoes I harvested—and I think next year I’ll plant two or three times as many!

I’m doing my daily chores with ’70s folk playing on Pandora, one of my favorite apps. Yesterday I hung the laundry to dry in the dining room, so I folded it and put it away today. Free dryer day! I washed the pans from last night’s dinner and picked up the kitchen—you get the idea.

I’ve also been clearing out clothes that don’t fit and listing them on Vinted and Depop. I ran to the post office first thing to send out a few orders. It’s been a couple of weeks, and I’ve earned nearly $40. I’ll take it! I have some craft things to hunt down and list later, too. This little collection of yarn just went out this morning

I always have more stuffing then peppers so I made a little meatloaf and I’ve portioned that up to get into the freezer! There are times when it’s just Mr Frugalist and I for dinner and neither one of us feels like cooking!

Had to make rice for the stuffed peppers, so I made extra! Once it’s cooled, I’ll portion it into my freezer molds and stash it away for those days when I want to throw a meal together without starting from scratch. It’s a little thing, but future me will be glad I did it!
