We had a softball tournament this morning/afternoon but got home with enough daylight to get the new sign up!
Being in this lovely wooded lot is great privacy, but it's a little tricky to make sure you're at the right place sometimes- so I ordered this cutie!

Probably 16 or so years ago I had someone mock up a tshirt in case I started that bakery I had dreams of and was able to have the bar league softball team I was on wear them. They were going to be bright pink and feature this little dancing cupcake! Back then the tentative name was "Homeslice".

That never happened, but a few years later when I met Robb he surprised me with a custom made necklace of this logo for my birthday as a reminder to not give up.

Here we are, all these years later and the little dancing cupcake finally makes his big debut!
We will make that area prettier eventually, but it's a start.

Would it be weird to name a cupcake Pie? 🤔😂

Maybe I'll call him Homie- after my big, sweet yellow lab baby I had back then named Homer, affectionately known as Homeslice ❤️

Took the bakery on her maiden voyage this weekend!
Was it perfect? No.
There is a new oven to learn (and now a bottom oven door to replace), I have to haul dishes up and down the steps to wash until the sink gets installed, and the cooler and freezer are still at the other house so there isn't a place to store orders for grab and go pick ups.
BUT does it work? .... Yes!
And it will be great eventually.

I have tentatively opened up the order link but it's gonna be limited for a bit. Bear with me.

I suppose I owe an update!
I've gotten so used to working on the houses every day that social media isn't really at the top- or even on the first 3 pages- of my to-do list.

We have moved into the home my in-laws built 40+ years ago. It's a beautiful home and a huge blessing...and I feel a lot of self-imposed pressure to try and make it feel like us (i.e. comfortable and homey for our 12 year old) while honoring the home the Pies dreamt up and loved all these years.

There's a lot involved getting things sorted out and where they need to go.

Between getting the other home we have loved for the past 14 years ready to sell and working on this one I've painted and cleaned and hauled stuff daily for the last 2+ months- meanwhile my husband started a new job so he's working some long, odd hours and helps in the evenings and on weekends.

I'm not complaining, just explaining. This season of life is chock full of transition. It's been crazy and exhausting, but it will be good.

I found some ovens and a sink secondhand that still need to be installed, built a work table, and painted and repurposed some old furniture. My bakery area is coming together, but it's still a work in progress.

Aiming to be up and running the beginning of October- though probably not much for Halloween because I am doing desserts for my cousin's wedding out of state that week.

Welcome to the starting point of what will become my new little bakery. It's an amazing space that I'm so excited about and it's starting to transform a little more every day!

This is why I have paused orders for the time being. I've been putting in lots of sweat equity evicting spiders, cleaning, painting, planning and daydreaming.
Thankfully, this is fun for me 🤪 ...and there is A/C so it's not a bad place to be on these hot days.

I don't have an exact date yet for reopening. I know it's annoying and disappointing for some of you and I really do apologize for that. I'm trying my best to balance all the things.

This is just a really small slice of the changes occurring in our little corner of the world right now- it's a little crazy at the moment, but it will absolutely be worth it.
