❤️ THANK YOU, STANWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT! ❤️
On June 21, The Cookie Mill was broken into. To anyone who’s been in the victim of burglary, you understand how violating and heartbreaking it can be.
From the very beginning, the Stanwood Police Department took the incident seriously and worked tirelessly to find the person responsible. Today, we are incredibly grateful to see that investigation come to a successful conclusion with an arrest.
We want to give a very special thank you to Deputy Kargopoltsev and Detective Martin for their dedication and persistence in investigating this case. They followed the evidence, tracked down the suspect vehicle, obtained the necessary warrants, and continued working the case even when the investigation led outside of Stanwood.
We are also so thankful to VOTF (Violent Offender Task Force) for their assistance in making the arrest and recovering evidence related to the burglary.
And a special thank you to our neighbors at Union Coffee Bar for providing the video footage that helped give investigators an important lead. This is such a great example of what can happen when our local businesses and law enforcement work together. ❤️
We are so incredibly grateful to the men and women of the Stanwood Police Department for the work they do every day to protect our community and hold people accountable. We know investigations like this take time, patience and a tremendous amount of work behind the scenes.
Thank you for not giving up. Thank you for following the evidence. 🍪❤️
We are very grateful to live and work in a community where people look out for one another. When we shared about this back in June, so many of you commented, supported, and shared our post which was very helpful.
Thank you, Stanwood PD and thank you to our community. 💙
On June 21, 2026, Stanwood Police responded to a report of a burglary in-progress at The Cookie Mill.
Upon arrival, the suspect was no longer on scene and there was no suspect vehicle observed leaving the area leaving lots of information to be unknown. Several days later Union Coffee Bar (Neighboring business) provided video footage indicating a possible suspect vehicle that was involved the day of the incident.
Deputy Kargopoltsev and Detective Martin worked diligently and identified the vehicle by referencing other cameras nearby as a rental out of Seattle. A search warrant was granted by a Judge and served to obtain information on the renter(s) of the vehicle. Both Deputy Kargopoltsev and Detective Martin continued the investigation leading to the identification of the primary suspect of the burglary.
Deputy Kargopoltsev obtained an additional warrant which was granted by a Judge to serve at the suspect’s residence in Seattle, WA. With the assistance of VOTF (Violent Offender Task Force), Deputy Kargopoltsev and Detective Martin served the warrant on 08/05/2026 leading to the arrest of the Burglary Suspect and recovery of evidence related to the Cookie Mill Burglary. The suspect was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for the following:
RCW 9A.52.030 Burglary 2nd Degree - 2 Counts
RCW 9A.56.050 - Theft 3rd Degree - 1 Count
RCW 9A.48.090 - Malicious Mischief 3rd Degree - 1 Count
Stanwood PD is dedicated to serving justice and holding wrongdoers accountable even if the investigation leads outside the City. This is one example of the great work being done by our deputies and detective and demonstrates how license plate reader technology can support law enforcement in solving crimes.
