The History of the Inn
Ever since horse buggies visited the Clifford Lake Hotel, guests have enjoyed the charm of the area. The Inn has weathered many storms and has been in operation through many major events that have shaped our wonderful country since its beginning in 1881. The Inn welcomed travelers when cars and televisions were introduced. Guests were sitting around the Hotel discussing the World Wars, presidents’ assassinations, and men walking on the moon. The inn has survived the Great Depression, a huge fire, and years of neglect. Regardless of the situation, the Inn has always opened its doors to welcome guests and bring warm smiles to their faces. We hope you enjoy your visit to the Inn and that you feel the warmth and love that has kept this old building running for over 135 years. Thank you for coming!

⚓️ A LITTLE BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE PEOPLE YOU SEE AT CLIFFORD LAKE INN ⚓️

Our customers see a small part of our servers, bartenders, cooks, and everyone who works behind the scenes… ☺️

You see the smile when you walk through the door, the drinks being poured, the food coming to your table, and hopefully a great experience.🤣

But there is so much more to the people who take care of you. 🙏

Some of our staff are single moms doing it on their own. Some are taking care of their wives and families. Some are working while dealing with medical challenges. Some are diabetic. Some are going to nursing school. Some are working two or even three jobs. Some are juggling sports. Some who work all day and then come here and work with us.

Some are balancing school, kids, family, and everything life throws at them.

And somehow, they still show up and do their best to make your experience a good one.

I just want you to know that I see them. ❤️

I see the struggles they don't always talk about. I see how hard they work. I've been there beside them through some of those struggles, and I have struggles of my own. And when I've needed someone, so many of these people have stood beside me too sometimes in ways that felt more like family than employees….. Thank You 🤍

That's what makes Clifford Lake Inn special to me. It's not just a restaurant. It's people. It's family. It's a bunch of imperfect humans showing up every day and doing the best they can….

So the next time you're here, remember that the person serving your table or cooking your meal has a whole life outside of those few minutes you see them. A little patience, kindness, and understanding can mean more than you realize. ❤️
