The Kitchen Sink

The Kitchen Sink Specializing in Cajun & Creole Cuisine. Current Pop-up Location TBA American Food w/Cajun Twist

The Kitchen Sink is a family owned / family diner restaurant.

The name means just what it implies, everything is on the menu but "The Kitchen Sink". The food is Creole, New Orleans style cooking. It's a little spicy, a little different & highly seasoned. For someone who has never had this type of cooking, The Kitchen Sink would be a very good place to start. They would have some nice choices and a variety of items to choose from. al! The best part about this new-ish diner: Only a handful of dishes on the menu cost more than a Hamilton, so even if crab's not your thing, the options for fare that won't squeeze your wallet are seemingly endless. Sauce Magazine

Hello TKS Family!

I had the pleasure of speaking with Ms. Francine Strain about the event on the flyer below. I find it absolutely inspirational that through her family’s pain, she has made it her new life mission to try and make sure others don’t have to experience what she and her family have experienced! Ms. Strain speaks enthusiastically of the relationship she has formed with Major Cousins from the STLPD. They have formed a life altering bond through this tragedy and have also come together to GIVE AWAY FREE GUN LOCKS. TKS will like to show support to them by giving away some Free Food Samples to those who come out to support the event.

Ms. Strains' goal is to be able to set up a Nonprofit so she can continue to honor her grandson. Those who make a donation to the event will be entered into a raffle for a Pre-Grand Opening Dinner for you and a guest. I (Anthony Ellerson) will prepare whatever you like from the TKS menu. Thank you for helping me serve our community.

Congratulations to Ms. McCoy& Gourmet Soul! See you on the dog walking tour Neighbor.

Hello TKS Family and Friends!
(Long Post...but worth reading)

The previous event at the Missouri History Museum was (from what I was told by a close friend) the "1st time they’d seen me smile in a while!” I had the time of MY LIFE and realized what I’ve been missing for a while.

Over the last four years my Friend and Real Estate Agent, Scott Sinson, has shown me numerous places to encourage me to get me back in the restaurant business and I GREATLY APPRECIATE HIM!!

I’ve been BLESSED with the opportunity to Design my own restaurant. I put my thoughts and ideas on paper, but fortunately for me, Made Man Design (I might be biased, but I BELIEVE PATRICK is the BEST IN THE WORLD) listened and designed (what I would like to take credit for as my ideas) what I believe is the Best Looking restaurant I could ever imagine.

It takes a lot of equipment, planning, and special details for my team and myself to ensure the quality and experience you all are patiently waiting for and expect from TKS. I am still amazed at how everything has worked out and come together for optimum functionality.

I would like to say THANK YOU to Delmar Maker District for including The Kitchen Sink into the vision they have for this neighborhood!! It’s HUMBLING to have people still interested in TKS over FIVE Years after closing the last location. I am in awe of Mr. Douglas for investing close to a million dollars into a building, giving me the privilege to relive my dreams of cooking for y’all! This is a HUGE PROJECT with MANY HURDLES for DMD and they toppled them seamlessly …… for me to have this vision and for you to enjoy!

Now about when we are opening:
I wanted some epoxy river tables, certain chairs, and bar stools made special for you, so it will take a little longer than I envisioned for those items to arrive. We are still dealing with supply chain issues. All the equipment needed for my kitchen is not available right now.

Last, but not least, I would like to thank Mr. Jassen Johnson & the Academy-Sherman Park Neighborhood Association for all their help and support for this project.

TKS Family and Friends: I’m here for the next 15 years (in the new location) and I am sorry it will be a "little longer" (1st quarter of 2023) before we open but it will be worth the wait!

With Humility and Gratefulness,
Anthony Ellerson, Jr.

From the Desk of Anthony Ellerson, Jr.:

Once again I humbly say thank you, thank you, thank you!

Yesterday evening we lowered the curtain on what was the LAST POP-UP featuring The Kitchen Sink. Thank you for helping me support a GREAT organization, East St. Louis Community Tennis Association.

The TKS Concept was created as homage to all the places that I have worked and the some of the places from my childhood that brought special meaning to me. It gives me great satisfaction that TKS grew to be the place that some of you loved. It’s due to the contributions of NUMEROUS PEOPLE (it would take days to give everyone their flowers)! The back of the house staff were some of the most talented and driven individuals to cook fresh and great food. The front of the house staff were the backbone of the TKS and we wouldn’t have been successful without them.

After the Pop-up in February 2021, I was able to reflect on how great it was to just cook the food again and get to have conversations with so many of you. That was my own little Utopia.

~A gentleman came in and asked me to move TKS somewhere closer to him and we discovered we live in the same neighborhood. He came back the next night with pictures of places in the neighborhood that were available to rent!

~A lady who called in an order for her and husband because it was their wedding anniversary. It was great to be a part of their celebration!

~The gentleman that only eats the jerk chicken sandwich with extra marmalade on the side. There are no words to describe the feeling of gratitude when I received the email he sent asking if he could help go door to door to get signatures for a liquor license for TKS.

Relationships and the TKS Customers like those and like YOU made The Kitchen Sink a blessed venture!

So many of you have asked me to come back and do a full service establishment. As much as I would like to, these pop-ups have given me insight into the issues and obstacles that exist at this time for restaurant owners and caterers. Please continue to support those strong men and women, they are dealing with an unstable supply chain, price variation, and labor shortages.

So until then…
Hopefully by the end of 2021 or beginning of 2022 you can be on the lookout for TJ’s (A Food Truck). Eventually, TJ’s will be a sports bar with a unique twist (a joint venture with Justin Tatum) and a new menu, but will feature TKS favorites at certain times of the year.

Well, Justin Tatum now it’s put out into the universe, let’s give our mothers something else to be proud of!

Sincerely,
Anthony Ellerson, Jr.
