Started in 1950 by the Petrillo's and bought in 1965 by the late Peggy Morgan and her late husband. Tonya and Dennis Buechel along with their family now run and operate MonteBello. We use the original recipes for ALL the HOMEMADE sauce, Arancinis, hand rolled pizza shells, Meatballs, Italian Sausage, Roquefort, Ranch and Red W**e Vinaigrette dressings, and also for our famous Home made all beef Toasted Ravioli's. We have added some new pizzas and appetizers.

A LONG-EXPECTED POST

My dear St. Louisans, Lemayans, Mehlvillians, South Countians, South Siders, Afftonians, Oakvillians, regulars, newcomers, old friends, and those of you who have been coming down these stairs since before some of us were born:

Today is Hobbit Day.

And while none of us have reached eleventy-one just yet, Monte Bello has reached the respectable age of seventy-six.

Which got us thinking...

Life has remained largely unchanged in the Shire for many generations.

Down here, we understand that.

Seventy-six years underground. Low ceilings. Good food. Cold drinks. Familiar faces.

And a firm belief that several meals a day is perfectly reasonable.

In honor of Hobbit Day, we're going to do what Bilbo did best.

Disappear.

That was the plan.

Then Dennis got involved.

Apparently a Facebook post wasn't enough. Dennis decided if we're celebrating pepperoni, we're going all in.

So tomorrow we're putting every kind of pepperoni we have on one pizza.

Our pepperoni.

Diced pepperoni.

Jalapeño pepperoni.

All three. One pizza.

Available Sunday, September 20 only. Once Sunday is over, so is the pizza.

A customer brought this to our attention tonight.

Apparently, this was placed upon the front door of Monte Bello Pizzeria.

Our front door.

We’ve been here since 1950. Generations have passed through these doors. Dough has been rolled. Pizzas have been baked. Traditions have been upheld.

And today, someone saw fit to approach this sacred ground and attach advertisements for another pizza establishment to our door.

As if that were not insult enough, upon closer inspection we discovered something far more troubling:

Provel propaganda.

On our property.

We will not speculate as to what darkness compelled this individual to commit such an act.

The offending material has been removed. Dennis has been notified.

We are currently determining whether the front door requires a simple cleaning, a full ceremonial blessing, or replacement.

Please respect our privacy during this difficult time.

This affront will not soon be forgotten.

The U.S. Open Cup has been around since 1914.

St. Louis clubs have won it 10 times — including amateur clubs from a time when soccer in this town looked a whole lot different than it does today.

Tonight, CITY has a chance to write the next chapter.

Beat Colorado and they're headed to the U.S. Open Cup Final.

That's plenty of reason to watch.

But there's one more reason.

Colorado is owned by an SOB.

Fortunately, St. Louis has a much better one.

Sausage. Onion. Bacon.

Grab an SOB — or whatever your Monte Bello order is — before the game tonight.

Then settle in and cheer on CITY.

Some things are bigger than pizza. Friday night is one of them.

Monte Bello will be CLOSED Friday, September 18th.

Friday night is Senior Night at Mehlville, and three of our own will be out there — two on the football field and one in the band.

So we’re all going.

There are some moments you only get once. When somebody in your family has one of those moments, you show up. It’s really that simple.

And if you don’t have plans Friday night, come out and help us cheer these guys on. We’d love to see some familiar Monte Bello faces in the stands.

You shouldn’t have any trouble finding us.

We’ll be the obnoxiously loud group.

Okay. We got the message.

We sold enough Cubano Bellos last night that Dennis was up early this morning smoking another batch of chicken to make sure we're ready for tonight.

And tonight seems like a pretty good night for pizza. There's sports all over the place, so whether you're staying home to watch or getting together with some friends, we've got you covered.

Try the Cubano. Get your usual. Either way, we'll be down in the basement starting at 4.
