We’re honored to share that Polite Society has been selected as the 2026 Good Neighbor Award recipient for Ward 8 at the City of St. Louis Mayor’s Celebration of Businesses!

Each year, this award recognizes one business from each of the city’s 14 wards for its positive contributions to the community.

Lafayette Square has been our home since we opened our doors, and being recognized for our role in this neighborhood means a great deal to us.

Now, in a somewhat amusing twist, the awards luncheon was held on October 1st, and we learned we'd won when a congratulatory letter dated October 9th arrived in the mail.

We can only assume that while the city considers us good neighbors, they may have some reservations about our behavior at formal luncheons.

In any case, we're genuinely grateful for the recognition and especially thankful to our incredible staff, our loyal guests, and the Lafayette Square community for making Polite Society what it is today.

We promise to be on our best behavior if we're ever invited to lunch. 🥂

We're hiring at Polite Society in Lafayette Square!

Looking for a fun, energetic part-time job with a great team? We'd love to meet you.

We're searching for a Server Assistant who enjoys working with people, has a positive attitude, and is ready to learn the restaurant business in a fast-paced, supportive environment.

No restaurant experience? That's okay! Experience is a plus, but we're happy to train the right person. This is a great entry-level opportunity for someone who wants to build hospitality skills while being part of one of St. Louis' best restaurant teams.

What we're looking for:
• Friendly, upbeat personality
• Dependable and eager to learn
• Works well in a team
• Weekend availability is required (Friday–Sunday)

What a great night at Lafayette Square’s Cocktails in the Plaza! We were excited to be part of such a fun community event and help raise money for the Neighborhood Association.
