For decades, many food retailers have trusted distributed refrigeration systems for a simple reason: resilience.

By reducing single points of failure, distributed architectures help protect uptime and minimize the risk of product loss.

Now, that same architecture is being paired with one of the industry’s leading sustainable refrigerants.

Powered by the Copeland transcritical CO₂ scroll compressor, distributed CO₂ refrigeration combines the operational flexibility and reliability benefits of mini-rack systems with the ultra-low-GWP advantages of CO₂ (R-744).

Available in fixed- and variable-speed configurations, Copeland transcritical CO₂ scroll compressors feature innovative dynamic v***r injection (DVI) technology that enhances efficiency, simplifies system design and supports broader CO₂ adoption across food retail applications.

South Korea’s food retail sector is advancing toward a more efficient and sustainable cold chain.

AME Co., Ltd. partnered with Copeland to modernize supermarket refrigeration systems with customized units powered by Copeland ZFI low-temperature scroll compressors.

With v***r injection technology, the solution helped improve annual efficiency by 9%, reduce noise by 6 dB(A) and deliver reliable low-temperature performance while supporting faster maintenance and minimizing downtime.

This collaboration highlights how advanced refrigeration technology and aftermarket readiness enable supermarkets to enhance reliability, reduce lower operating costs, and achieve their sustainability goals.
