Five years ago, on March 18, 2021, we turned online orders on. We called it a “soft opening.” Before we knew it, we had dozens of orders printing from the printer. We had to turn it all off because we freaked out. It was COVID, we were wearing masks, we had NO idea what STL would think of a vegan, death-metal-horror themed taco joint. Someone on social media said we’d be closed in a few weeks. Five years, guy, still makin’ spicy AF tacos with blaring metal and slasher films on the tube. Make no mistake, this has been tough. Like, nightmarishly tough. Which is appropriate. We didn’t expect it to be easy. Opening a small business is ridiculous. Opening a restaurant is nuts. Opening a Terror Tacos was – psychotic.
Today, on our five-year anniversary, we feel like there is only one thing to do. Give thanks. Shout outs, praying hands, high-fives, hand-hearts.
Thank you, St. Louis. Thank you for the smiles, the horns, the “hell-yeas,” the love. Thank you for showing up. Thank you for all of the non-St. Louis’ns that go out of their way when they are driving through to support us and beg us to open up a spot in their town. Holy s**t, that’s the best feeling. We love you. Thank you for voting for us, telling people about us, pushing vegan food for us. You’ve helped us make a weird idea an actual thing, and we are so grateful.
Thank you to every single amazing human who’s helped us keep the doors open. The cooks, the dishwashers, the bartenders, the expediters, all of you. Thank you for wanting to be a part of this. Some of you contributed way more than we ever expected. We miss you and love you. We are eternally grateful.
Thank you to other business owners who've helped us, collaborated with us, trusted us.❤️
For some reason five years feels like a thing, especially after the last couple of years when so many spots have closed. Every day we are open feels like a blessing.
STL, we love you. We are grateful.
Cheers,
Terror Bros.
