RIDE-TO-REMEMBER XI – Tour of Western MA – Riding For Correction Officers and EMT’s – WILL TAKE PLACE ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 9TH, 2023. We already have close to 300 riders signed-up and ready to ride. We are limiting the number of riders, so sign-up on BikeReg.com real soon!! We will begin the R2R11 at 8:30 A.M. on 09/09/23 from the Irish Cultural Center 429 Morgan Road, West Springfield, MA. The

Ride is 68 miles long and will start and finish at the ICC. The route is all planned out and the total elevation is not even 2000 ft. We will provide breakfast, lunch and a buffet style dinner. There will bet a HUGE afterparty with a concert from General Gist. This years route will take us through West Springfield, Springfield, Chicopee, Ludlow (stopping a the Hampden County House of Correction in Ludlow for a ceremony honoring Correction Officers), back into Springfield, East Longmeadow, Somers CT., Enfield CT, (lunch stop at Enfield Prison to honor Enfield Police and Correction Officers) Suffield CT, Southwick, (travel down the rail trail), Westfield, (Rest Stop in Westfield to Honor Westfield PD) and back into West Springfield. We will have dozens of Police Officers on Motorcycles escorting us the entire way and a State Police Helicopter above us. There will be bike repairs provided by Competitive Edge Bicycle Shop of East Longmeadow. There will be over 100 volunteers helping you along all day, Ride Marshals keeping you safe and Domino’s Pizza will be providing you with a great lunch! WE ARE TWO WEEKS FROM THE AMAZING RIDE-TO-REMEMBER XV!!!

This event is rain or shine.

Welcome to Ride-to-Remember-XV. Below are the essential details, schedule, and safety guidelines you need for this year’s ride.

Mandatory Pre-Registration:

When: Friday, September 11, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM

Where: White Lion Brewery at Tower Square (1500 Main Street, Springfield, MA)

Parking: Free validated parking is available inside the Tower Square Garage.

Check-In: All riders must sign the mandatory hold-harmless agreement. You will receive your rider number, turn-by-turn route maps, and an official swag bag.

Ride Day Schedule: Saturday, September 12

7:00 AM – Arrival & Check-In: Gather at the intersection of Main Street and Boland Way (roads will be closed to traffic at East Columbus & Boland Way, and Main & Boland Way).

Free on-street meter parking is available throughout downtown Springfield (plenty of spots on Main Street and side streets), or you can park in Tower Square for validated parking.

Receive your required rider number body marking.

Enjoy breakfast provided by Dunkin’ and other local restaurants (served 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM).

Take advantage of free minor bike repairs and tire top-offs from Competitive Edge bicycle mechanics.

Drop off a bag with a change of clothes with our 100 on-site volunteers for secure storage inside Tower Square. You will want a change of clothes after your steam, sauna, and shower (with free towel service)

8:00 AM – Opening Ceremony: Dignitaries and local officials will speak, followed by the singing of the National Anthem and America the Beautiful to honor the heroes of 9/11.

8:30 AM – Rollout: Family and friends are strongly encouraged to line the streets and cheer. (WE encourage you to bring all your family and friends!!

350 riders with a full motorcycle es**rt will head toward the Connecticut River and Riverfront Park, passing the 9/11 Memorial to the sound of live bagpipes.

The pack will loop back past Main Street and down Boland Way again, through all your family and friends.

We will cross the Memorial Bridge under the massive American flag displayed by the Springfield Fire Department.

Route, Support, & Rest Stops

Sag & Bus Support: Two luxury Peter Pan buses and support trucks will follow the entire route. If you need a break, our team will safely load your bike while you rest, hydrate, and refuel on the bus before rejoining the pack.

West Springfield: Ride past the West Springfield 9/11 Memorial.

If you get a flat tire, we will change it on the fly in seconds! All free of charge!

Rest Stop 1 (New England Air Museum, Windsor Locks, CT): Food provided by the Springfield Rescue Mission, access to clean restrooms, volunteer assistance, and free admission to tour the museum exhibits.

Rest Stop 2 (Riverside Park, Hartford, CT): Lunch sponsored by the Hartford Police Department Patrolmen’s Association, featuring a brief memorial ceremony by the Hartford Police Department honoring their fallen.

Tributes on the Return Leg: As we head back through East Longmeadow (quick stop at the East Longmeadow Fire Department) into Springfield, we will stop at the gravesite of Officer Kevin Ambrose and pedal past the memorial honoring fallen Officers Alain Beauregard and Michael Schiavina.

The Finish Line & Post-Ride Celebration

4:00 PM – 4:30 PM – Arrival at Tower Square: Invite family and friends to welcome you back. Every rider receives a finisher's medal upon dismounting.

Secure Bike Storage: Bikes will be stored in a dedicated, guarded room during the post-ride festivities. After you're done showering, eating dinner, rehydrating on adult beverages, and dancing, you can retrieve your bicycle from the guarded room and head home!

Refresh & Relax: Head into the Tower Square YMCA for complimentary towel service (provided by the Marriott), hot showers, steam room, and sauna access. Don't forget your change of clothing!!!

Dinner & Live Concert: Celebrate your achievement with a full post-ride dinner and drinks, followed by a live performance from New England’s premier party band, the Floyd Patterson Group. All your friends and family are more than welcome to partake!!

Mandatory Ride Rules

1. Helmets are mandatory for all riders.

2. No cell phone usage while riding.

3. Obey all Ride Marshals at all times.

4. Stay behind the lead marshal throughout the route.

5. No pets are permitted on bicycles.

6. A signed hold harmless agreement is strictly required before riding.

Hello Ride-to-Remember Riders;

Tomorrow is the LAST DAY to order your Official Ride-to-Remember Jersey! You can also purchase jackets, long-sleeved jerseys, and shorts or bibs. The only mandatory thing is a biker jersey. The Breitz Co. has been our partner for over a decade, and the jerseys are made in America. I'm hoping that everyone will buy this amazing 2026 R2R Jersey. It commemorates the 25th anniversary of 911. This will be a collector's item. I have enclosed a link to Breitz. REMEMBER, THE LAST DAY TO ORDER IS SUNDAY, July 26. THIS WILL ENABLE THE JERSEY TO BE MANUFACTURED TO YOUR SIZE AND SHIPPED TO YOUR HOUSE BEFORE THE R2R-15.

The Pre-reg is where you sign the mandatory waiver. You also get your rider number and swag bag.

The Ride-to-Remember takes place on Saturday, September 12th. We will be clipping in our pedals at 8:00 AM. Riders can start gathering at 6:30 AM at Main & Boland Way.
*WE ENCOURAGE ALL RIDERS TO BRING YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS TO THE OPENING CEREMONY THAT WILL BEGIN AT 7:40 AM. THIS YEAR WILL BE AMAZING. WE WILL PASS THROUGH MAIN & BOLAND WAY TWICE!

LIKE ALWAYS, EVERYONE IS INVITED TO OUR AFTER-PARTY INSIDE TOWER SQUARE!

Remember, we serve you breakfast, lunch, and a huge dinner. Our first rest-stop will be the NEW ENGLAND AIR MUSEUM IN WINDSOR LOCKS, CT. THEY'RE ROLLING OUT THE RED CARPET AND ALL RIDERS WILL GET TO TOUR THIS AMAZING HISTORICAL SITE! We will have a 911 ceremony there.

We had an outstanding sign/up for the R2R-15 tonite.
I traveled to the Hartford PD parking lot from 6-8 pm and we had close to 30 new riders.
The Hartford PD Patrolman’s Union agreed to purchase all the riders and volunteers lunch at the rest stop at the Hartford rest stop.

Thank you Hartford PD.

As a reminder - our first rest stop will be at the New England Air Museum in CT. Shannon Mumblo and I met with them last week. They are rolling out the red carpet at this rest stop. All participants will be able to tour the museum during this rest stop. We will be having a brief ceremony for the fallen and the 25th anniversary of 911.
The Springfield Rescue Mission is sponsoring this first rest stop and are providing everyone with food and hydration. Thank you !!!
