Proud of you kiddo Dimitri Georgalos
Least you know you are safe with him here!
On Monday night, BOMA and the Spring Hill Fire Department presented Dimitri Georgalos with the "Phoenix Award" for his heroic actions and life-saving efforts on December 24, 2025.
That night, Frank Georgalos, a beloved member of the Spring Hill community and local business owner, suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and collapsed unconscious in his home. Dimitri, his 16-year-old son, immediately sprang into action and began performing CPR until emergency responders arrived.
Despite having no formal CPR certification, Dimitri utilized knowledge he had independently
learned and demonstrated remarkable composure, courage, and determination during a highly emotional and stressful situation.
The immediate CPR provided by Dimitri was instrumental in sustaining his father until the arrival
of the Spring Hill Fire Department and emergency medical personnel, ultimately resulting in a return of circulation and transport to the hospital with a pulse.
Simply put, Frank most likely would not be here with us today if it weren't for Dimitri's heroics.
SHFD's Phoenix Award recognizes responders and citizens whose actions contribute to a cardiac arrest patient achieving return of spontaneous circulation and arriving at the hospital with a pulse. So far, Dimitri is only the fifth recipient of this award in the three years of its existence.
The City of Spring Hill formally recognizes Dimitri Georgalos as an outstanding example of character, bravery, and community spirit whose actions reflect the very best of our city.
