Moonshine is back next week!
We’re kicking off our Fall Mini Series on Wednesday, September 30 with Monsters, Inc. and a full evening of things to do before the movie.

Come out early to shop the artisan market, grab dinner and a drink, listen to live music from Radio Static Union, visit our fortune teller Mystic Marla Palmistry and Tarot , and stop by Mobius Discovery Center . Captain Patches will also be joining us from 5–7:30 PM!

We’ll have a costume contest right before the movie, so costumes are definitely encouraged.

September 30 is also Whitworth University Student Night! Whitworth students can show their student ID for 15% off food and drinks throughout the evening.

The market runs from 5–8 PM, with Monsters, Inc. beginning around 7–7:30 PM as it gets dark. Admission is free and all ages are welcome.

If only setup really happened with the snap of a finger. 😂

Jessica may make it look easy, but there’s a whole lot that goes into getting our Farmers Market booth ready each week. Long before we arrive at the market, our team is busy making sauces, preparing meals, packaging products, loading freezers, hauling everything to the market, setting up the booth, and, of course, packing it all back up again at the end of the day.

It takes a lot of hands to make it all happen, and we’re so grateful for the incredible team behind every batch, every package, and every market setup. ❤️

Today you can find us at the Perry Street Farmers Market from 3–7 PM! We’re there every other Thursday with our freezers stocked with housemade Commellini favorites to take home.

Our Farmers Market selection includes frozen Italian meals, pastas, sauces, lasagnas, Eggplant Parmesan, and other rotating favorites, all made right here at the Estate.

Paint Your Pet & Support Local Rescue 🐾

We’re excited to welcome Murci’s Mission to Commellini Estate for a special fundraiser combining art, Italian food, community, and a cause very close to the hearts of animal lovers.

Murci’s Murals: Paint Your Pet at Commellini Estate
Sunday, September 13 | 3:00–8:00 PM

Murci’s Mission is a 501(c)(3) animal rescue based in Mead, WA that takes in animals with limited options, places them in foster care, provides the veterinary care they need, and works to find them loving homes.

Their mission comes from a simple place: so many of us have loved animals for as long as we can remember. They’ve been our companions, our confidants, and part of our families. Murci’s Mission is working to protect the animals who can’t protect themselves.

For this special afternoon, local artist Squid will guide guests step-by-step in creating a portrait of their own pet. No painting experience is necessary, and your pet’s image will be pre-traced onto your canvas before the event.

Your ticket includes:
• Guided Paint Your Pet class and all painting supplies
• Full Italian dinner catered by Commellini Estate
• Raffle entry with prizes from local businesses
• An opportunity to connect with adoptable animals and fellow animal lovers
• A donation directly supporting Murci’s Mission

When we launched this giveaway, we hoped it would be a fun way to give a few local educators something special to look forward to after the first day of school. What we did not expect was the incredible response that followed.

More than 600 nominations came in for schools across our community!

Seeing teachers, parents, students, families, friends, and community members rally behind their schools has been such a wonderful reminder of just how loved and appreciated our local educators are.

Every comment represented someone saying, our teachers deserve to be celebrated.

Well, this is one way to make the newspaper...

In case you missed it, Tuesday’s The Spokesman-Review 'This Day in History' featured a story from exactly 100 years ago involving a name you may recognize: Albert Commellini.

Before founding Commellini Estate with Leda in 1941, Albert had already earned himself a rather colorful place in Spokane history. In August 1926, right in the middle of Prohibition, federal agents accused him of being the “ringleader” of a local bootlegging operation.

And yes, there was moonshine involved.

Here’s what was making headlines in Spokane 100 years ago:

"From 1926: Prohibition agents arrested Albert Commellini and three others on liquor charges after a raid of Leonard’s Bar, 226 N. Stevens, supposedly a “soft-drink” resort.

Two gallons of moonshine were seized. Commellini was charged with possession of wh**ky and “maintaining a nuisance.” Agents accused him of being the “ringleader” of a bootlegging gang.

After the Commellini raid, federal agents report that the “Main and Trent Avenue liquor resorts have added an extra man to do lookout duty,” or in some cases, “slackened up on the sale of liquor.”

“Apparently the bar owners feared further raids by federal officers,” an agent said."
