Hello from Baker Mountain Roastery.

We’re a little different up here, and we’re okay with that.

We’re not a big operation. It’s just us, a roaster, a mountain, and a whole lot of coffee that gets more attention than it probably realizes.

We taste it. We tinker with it. Sometimes we change a roast because we think there’s a little more hiding in that bean.

Next week, there’s going to be an awful lot of coffee coming out of this little roastery. But whether it’s one bag or a hundred pounds, we still do it the same way.

One batch at a time. Pay attention. Don’t rush it.

Mountain Grown. Mountain Roasted.

There’s something about mountain places. They slow you down a little. You notice weather sliding across the ridges, water moving below, and green holding fast to the slopes. You remember that good things take time, steady hands, and hard work.

Our Colombia Tolima begins in the mountains of southern Colombia, where small farming families grow coffee among steep slopes, cool mornings, bright sun, and rivers threading through the valleys. From there, it makes its way here to the Upper Cumberland, where wooded ridges, working farms, and changing seasons shape the place we call home.

Different mountains. Different lives. Different stories.

But there’s a familiar thread between them: land cared for, work done well, and something good made slowly. That connection comes through in the cup; sweet as brown sugar, bright as morning light, and full of character.

Maybe that’s why this coffee feels at home here.

September is here, but, we’ve never stopped roasting.

Fresh batches are coming out of the roaster, bags are getting filled, and coffee is heading out the door.

This part never really gets old — taking green coffee, roasting it in small batches, and turning it into something people actually look forward to brewing in the morning.

If you’ve picked up a bag lately, placed an order, told a friend about us, or just kept following along, thank you. That support means a lot to a small operation like ours.

Now, back to roasting!

Farm to cup traceability

Bali to NJ to Baker Mountain Roastery to Memphis to a good ol’ Michigan cup. Now there’s quite a road trip!

Spent a great weekend down in Memphis with most of my kids at our son’s house. He’s a fire fighter/paramedic for the city of Memphis so happy to keep him going with a little Baker Mountain roasted coffee. This time we also delivered some for a co-worker. We do love all of our 1st responders!

Friday morning on Baker Mountain.

The week’s not quite over, but you can see the finish line from here.

Coffee’s hot.
The morning air has a little softness to it.
And for just a few minutes, before the day gets moving, the front porch feels like the best seat in the house.

Maybe your week has been smooth.
Maybe it’s been one thing after another.
Either way, you made it to Friday.

So pour a cup, take a minute, and ease into the day.

There’s still work to do—but there’s no rule saying you can’t enjoy the morning while you do it.

Fresh-roasted coffee just hits differently.

When coffee is roasted fresh, those rich chocolate, caramel, fruit, and nutty notes have a chance to really shine in the cup.

That’s the flavor we’re chasing every roast day at Baker Mountain Roastery; coffee with character, not something that’s been sitting around for months on a store shelf.

P.s. We’ve been told we can take over the entire shelf. Anyone wanting a bigger size such as a 16oz bag? I’m thinking that’ll work great to fill it out!
