Zulu Coffee Co. was a business Ally and I started as partners. We shared a passion for coffee and being in community and we wanted to do something to bring those experiences together. Ally’s very cool idea to buy a school bus, her hard work to renovate the bus, us buying 215 Main Street for the current location, and there were lots of laughs, sweat and tears over the last three years — we wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Since we opened in 2020, Zulu has become the center of our life, it provided support for our family and it brought people in our lives that we now call family.
It has also been our training ground for success. Owning a small business has opened our eyes to the challenges and opportunities we would have never understood without this experience.
But as our lives have shifted into new seasons, so must we shift our focus.
Ally is kicking ass at UT Business school. McCombs is a highly competitive program and she earned her seat at the table. She stayed in Austin to work two jobs this summer and take classes.
I am shifting my focus to the newspaper, which is am loving, and also to my consulting business which has started work on some new exciting projects I’ll announce soon.
While, we do not plan to close Zulu, we do plan to change our operations until further notice.
Starting next week, we will be open on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. (Those are also days the newspaper office is open in the same building.)
We plan to also open occasionally on Saturdays and when there are special events happening on Main Street, pop up style, so watch for those announcements.
We will continue our food on the weekdays we are open, and we are available for catering events and meetings. Please contact me or Tobi Barrera about catering.
THANK YOU to all our customers and supporters. We love you all so much, and we will continue to provide the best service we can under our new operations.
I hope you will continue to support Zulu through this time in our business & life journey.
