We are grateful this morning. ❤️

The Town of Sparta experienced a terrible fire on Main Street last night. The photos and videos were frightening, and we know many of you were concerned about our downtown, our neighbors, and Muddy Creek.

Thankfully, due to the incredible work of first responders from Alleghany and surrounding counties, no one was hurt and the fire was contained to a single building. We are tremendously grateful to the firefighters and emergency personnel who worked through the night to protect our little town.

The Muddy Creek Cafe & Music Hall building is fine, and we plan to open Wednesday as usual.

Our thoughts are with those directly affected by the fire.

Funny thing about Luke Mears and his band…whenever they play Muddy Creek, they're the guys you all come up afterward and ask: “WHEN ARE THEY PLAYING AGAIN?!” 😂🎶

Because once you hear them, you're hooked.

I've often said that if there were one band that somehow sums up the whole Muddy Creek vibe, this might be it. The energy, the groove, the top-notch musicianship, the songs—and that wonderful feeling when a band and a room just CLICK.
And TONIGHT, we get to do it all again!

I feel like I really got to know Carly last summer through the various Dahlia events at C.E. Farms. Her beautiful family, incredible gardens, and handmade products were wonderful, of course—but what really stood out to me was Carly herself. Her entrepreneurial spirit, work ethic, and genuine enthusiasm for Alleghany County are pretty special.

And she's just getting started.
Now a college student studying Agriculture Business, while ALSO running C.E. Farms & Candle Co., Carly is one of those young women you watch and think, she's going to do big things.

We're big believers in supporting local farmers, makers, entrepreneurs, and especially young people who choose to invest their talents right here in our community.

So we are absolutely delighted to have C.E. Farms DAHLIAS at the Muddy Creek Cafe in Sparta! 💐
They're locally grown, absolutely gorgeous, and—as is the nature of beautiful summer flowers—here for a limited time.

The night started like any other Bunco night. The ladies arrived early for dinner and cocktails in the bar. There was laughter, catching up, and a little pre-game strategizing.

And then... THE QUEEN ARRIVED. 👑

Gracing us with her presence in FULL COLOR—a tiara, lipstick, and a smile that clearly said, “I dare you.” 😂

Once the dice started rolling, so did the competition for the next crown. There were Buncos all around, tables changing, plenty of hollering, and fortunes rising and falling with every roll.

But somehow, things kept coming back to Jeni in the Bunco tee.

Coincidence? We think not.

That shirt was clearly a secret weapon. 🎲

There were snacks and prizes, old friends and new friendships, plenty of ridiculousness, and another night of memories made around the tables.

That's what we love about Bunco. You might come for the game, but somewhere between the dice, the snacks, and the fight for the crown, you become part of this wonderfully silly little community. Cheers! ❤️👑🎲
