Thank you hikers, visitors, and family reunions. Thank you, girls’ trip from Charlotte. Thank you, young people-we’ve-never-seen-before, for bringing a party to the bar.

Thank you John Hugley and all the friends and fans who came out on a rainy night to enjoy some damn fun classic songs.

Thank you Elaina and Whitney for working at the speed of light after we used the oldest restaurant trick in the book: Send somebody home early and then get REALLY busy. :)

Thank you to our kitchen team for absolutely knocking it out of the park with top-notch food our guests raved about and great ticket times.

And thank you Darren at The Pines for having our back during a little “WE’RE OUT OF GRILL CLEANER!” emergency—and for the great big belly laugh about the state of restaurants these days. If you know, you know.

Because even with all the ridiculous challenges of running a restaurant these days, here’s the thing:

Look at what we get to do.

Our team gets to interact with and connect with so many people, every single day. And most of the time, we have absolutely no idea how those little interactions touch someone. We just get to be there for it.

We cook the food. Pour the drinks. Play the music. Clear the tables. Laugh with you. Welcome you through the door.

And somewhere in the middle of all that ordinary restaurant stuff, people connect.

Tonight, on a rainy, foggy night in Sparta, we were reminded once again just how extraordinary that can be.

A Little H***y Tonk in the Mountains. 🎶

There’s a whole lotta goodness coming to Muddy Creek Cafe & Music Hall in October. 🍂

Maybe it’s the old rock walls and creaky floors. A burger and fries hitting the table while somebody’s tuning a guitar in the Music Hall. A cold b**r at the bar. Friends coming through the door. A little dancing. A lot of laughing.

And MUSIC. Lots and lots of music.

Friday Night Live brings some of our favorite local bands to the Music Hall. The Cafe Stage keeps things going with acoustic local talent. And then every once in a while, some pretty extraordinary touring musicians roll into our little mountain town.

This month, we have TWO ticketed shows you really don't want to miss.

🎷 Jeff Coffin & Friends — featuring Jeff Coffin of Dave Matthews Band and Béla Fleck & the Flecktones, joined by an absolutely killer lineup of musicians including Viktor Krauss, Jordan Perlson and Bob Lanzetti of Snarky Puppy. Between them? Grammys, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, hundreds of recordings and decades of touring the world. And they're coming to Sparta, NC.

🎸 Ed Snodderly & Thomm Jutz — two remarkable songwriters, storytellers and pickers bringing an evening of Americana, humor, energy and seriously good music. Ed's songwriting has even earned a permanent place in Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame.

And that's just the ticketed stuff.

October also brings Friday Night Live, local musicians on the Cafe Stage, line dancing, parties, reunions and plenty of nights when you might walk in for supper and discover there's a whole lot more happening.

Deering Banjos named her their "Goodtime Ambassador", and Janet Deering describes her banjo playing as giving her ‘chills’. She'll be back at the Muddy Creek Music Hall in Sparta on Friday, November 6th @ 8pm! Her last show here sold out pretty quickly, so get them tickets asap!!!

This week at the Creek! 🍗🎶

Those Springer Mountain Chicken Tenders everyone keeps raving about? They’re now on the menu EVERY DAY! And the Buffalo Billy’s Chicken Sandwich is quickly becoming a Muddy Creek favorite, too. If you haven’t tried it yet… this might be the week. 😋

And, of course, there’s music!

🎶 Friday Night Live brings The Water Peppers to the Music Hall Friday evening — classic rock songs we all know and love, done exceptionally well. Grab some dinner, a cold beverage, and settle in for a really fun Friday night. No cover. Please TIP the bands.

🎶 Saturday at 6pm, local favorite John Hughey takes over the Cafe Stage — an easygoing Saturday evening of good food, good music, and good company.
