It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend, Jacob Dolat. After a courageous battle with jaw cancer and all the inconveniences of the after math, we take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace.
Jakey was so much more than just our chef. Known for his love of all things Grateful Dead, the nurturing way he took care of his kitty “girls,” Tito’s and Cranberry, his hilariously grumpy (but CHEEKY) disposition, wearing mops on his head, and his eclectically-patterned chef pants, Jake was an integral part of this little family we have created at The Southwick Inn. If you’ve ever heard “HOUSE BAND,” “WATER BREAK,” or “DUA LIPA” being called out in the kitchen, then you’ve had the privilege of hearing Jakey at his finest!
As a classically trained culinary artist, Jake LOVED creating timeless dishes with his own unique twist. He put his whole heart into every dish he created, and it showed. His passion for providing sustenance to others was truly unmatched, and his life’s work carries on through the many he has fed at his table over the years.
Thank you to all of the incredible community members who supported Jake and his tribe throughout this journey. Your love has been felt in more ways than you could possibly imagine. Please keep Jake’s family in your thoughts as they navigate everything to come, especially his wonderful sister Erica.
Rest in Peace, Pepper Pants. We miss you already 🫶🏻🌶️
