Since this cute cuddly kitten (that is absolutely not available, but please visit our equally cute cats and give them some love at the cafe) has garnered some attention, we’d like to make an important announcement 📣
PLEASE CHECK ON YOUR LOCAL RESCUE GROUP! Offer a hand or a donation, food, money, litter, a foster home.
Fancy Cat Cafe is NOT a rescue, we have the fun job to find good homes. Cindy Dewey, the amazing vets, and the employees at The Pet Compassion Centers are the ones making these cats safe and healthy. That’s where the sweat and tears can be found.
At the same time we’ve been celebrating adoptions, we’re seeing an overwhelming number of posts about unwanted litters, pregnant cats, and kittens needing rescue. The sheer number is heartbreaking.
If you have an unfixed cat, or if you’ve taken in one of these mama cats, we are begging you: please get them spayed or neutered.
Allowing litter after litter to be born and then messaging rescues or shelters asking them to take the kittens isn’t a solution. We don’t want more cats to rescue—we want a world where every cat already has a safe, loving home. We’d be thrilled if one day there were no cats for us to place because they were all wanted and cared for.
Female cats can become pregnant as early as 4 months old and can have multiple litters every year. One unspayed cat and her offspring can contribute to hundreds of cats being born over time. Meanwhile, rescue groups, shelters, and independent rescuers are stretched beyond their limits.
These mama cats don’t deserve to spend their lives pregnant, nursing, and starting all over again. They deserve warm beds, full bowls, VETERINARY care, and families who love them. The kittens being born right now are entering a world where there simply are not enough homes waiting for them.
Behind every rescue post is someone spending their own money, sacrificing their time, and carrying the emotional weight of trying to save as many lives as possible. Many rescuers end up with dozens of cats in their own homes because there is nowhere else for them to go.
So while we celebrate every adoption, we’re also asking for your help. Please spay. Please neuter. Please be part of the solution.
The greatest adoption milestone we could ever reach would be a day when every cat already has a home.
