THE RUMORS ARE TRUE!
After more than 22 years, countless cups of coffee, millions of memories, and more than a few offers over the years, Michael and I have chosen Susete and Tony Sorritelli to become the new Keepers of Schnoogs Café & Station!
Yes, you read that right. Keepers.
You see, I used to think we owned Schnoogs Café. Somewhere along this remarkable journey, I realized we were simply its Keepers. Schnoogs has been called The Heart of Sonora, Sonora's Living Room, and, of course, That Café with the Funny Name. But the truth is, Schnoogs has always belonged to YOU. Our community. We were simply entrusted with keeping the coffee brewing, the doors open, the food delicious, and the love flowing.
And oh, what a journey it has been.
We've watched babies grow into teenagers, teenagers become parents, and families grow by generations. We've celebrated your milestones, listened to your stories, shared your laughter, and held space for your heartbreak. We've said hello to thousands of new friends and goodbye to some precious souls who will forever have a place in our hearts.
Our staff became family. Our regulars became friends. And our friends became family. When we first began this adventure, we had a rather curious idea: What if we created a place where people came for coffee but stayed for connection? What if customers became friends, and friends became family?
The answer has been a resounding YES. Over and over and over again.
From the beginning, we believed in doing things with intention. Serving organic coffee long before organic was "a thing." Making food from scratch. Choosing quality over shortcuts. And adding a generous helping of love to everything we served. But the real magic was never just in the coffee or the food.
It was always in the people. YOU made Schnoogs what it is today. You supported our dream, watched our own family grow, welcomed our children behind the counter, and helped us create something far more meaningful than a café. You helped us create community. And now, with full hearts and tremendous gratitude, it's time to pass the keys.
We are delighted to introduce Susete and Tony Sorritelli, the next Keepers of Schnoogs Café & Station!
Many of you may already know them as the owners of Two Acre Farms, where they make incredible sourdough creations. (And can we just fast-forward to a Two Acre sourdough bagel sizzling on the Schnoogs panini grill? YUM!)
What makes this transition so special is that Tony and Susete understand what Schnoogs means to this community. They aren't coming in to reinvent it. They are coming in to love it, nurture it, and carry its legacy forward.
The same beloved staff.
The same recipes.
The same heart.
And, of course, new memories waiting to be made. We couldn't be happier about the humans who will be holding the keys. They are thoughtful, kind, hardworking, and genuinely committed to preserving the magic that makes Schnoogs, well, Schnoogs.
And what about us?
Michael has officially retired after a wonderful career as the chiropractor with the best waiting room in town. (If you know, you know! 😉) As for me, I'm not quite ready to call this retirement. I'm calling it REINSPIREMENT! There is a second book waiting to be finished, Slow Parenting in a Fast World, and more mindfulness teaching, writing, and creating ahead through Mindful Compass ( Compass). And perhaps most importantly, we have 5.3 grandchildren who have claimed a rather substantial portion of our hearts, and we're looking forward to having more time to soak up every delicious moment with them.
As this transition unfolds, we have one very special request:
Please welcome Tony and Susete with the same warmth, kindness, and love you have shown us for more than two decades.
We know you will love them.
To our extraordinary staff, past and present, and to every single person who has walked through our doors, ordered at our drive-through window, shared a story, offered a smile, or made Schnoogs part of your daily life...
Thank you.
Thank you for believing in our dream. Thank you for growing alongside us. Thank you for allowing us the privilege of being the Keepers of something so very special.
Twenty-two years ago, we thought we were opening a café. We had no idea we were opening our hearts to an entire community. And what a beautiful love story it has been.
With all our love and endless gratitude,
