A little public service announcement from my heart… 🤍
This is actually a very humbling post for me to write, but there is something I feel like I need to make very clear.
I do not want, nor do I need, credit for anything that is happening through the Little Blue Bake Shed in our community.
A few months ago, I messaged my dad almost joking around. He has been a phenomenal carpenter my entire life, and I had found a couple little roadside sheds online. I sent them to him and said, “Hey Dad, can you build me one of these?”
I honestly expected him to say no… or for nothing to ever come of it. 😂
Fast-forward a couple months and he was asking me what color I wanted it because the frame was already built.
Originally, he had a little garden behind our office and the plan was simple: put vegetables in the shed.
And somehow, God had an entirely different plan.
I’ve always been a decent cook, and baking is something I taught myself. A couple years ago, I went down the rabbit hole of learning what is actually in so much of the food we eat, and our family started making probably 98% of our food from scratch.
I see women doing little roadside bake stands all over social media. This isn’t something I invented. But putting myself out there like this? That is NOT me. 😂 If you know me personally, you know that.
But there is something most people probably don’t know.
Every single time I bake, I pray.
I pray over my ingredients individually. It doesn’t matter if it’s flour, sugar, butter, eggs or vanilla. I pray over them.
Every Saturday, before I stock that little blue shed—before I ever step foot inside of it—I pray over the shed.
I pray for every person who will drive by it.
I pray for every person who will walk through that door.
I pray for their children, their spouses and their families.
And the very first time I stocked that shed, I dedicated it to the Lord.
The money that comes into the shed from what I bake has never just been “money in my pocket.” It goes right back into ingredients. It buys the free bracelets and little things I leave for people. And every Sunday, I tithe from that money at church.
And now, after watching this community show up in such an incredible way for people who need a little help, part of what comes through that shed is going right back out through the Little Blue Blessing Box and other opportunities to help people right here in our community.
I cannot begin to explain what your messages, comments, shares, likes, follows and kind words mean to me. Sometimes I read them and feel like my heart could absolutely explode. 🥹🤍
But y’all…
It isn’t me.
I’m just the girl baking the bread.
It’s God.
If something good is happening through that little blue shed, I want Him to receive every bit of the glory for it.
I don’t need my name attached to the good being done. I don’t need recognition. I don’t need anyone to tell me what a good person I am.
I just want to keep saying yes when God puts something on my heart.
What started as a funny text to my dad about a little shed has turned into something I never could have planned myself.
And maybe that’s because it was never my plan to begin with.
“For from Him and through Him and for Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever! Amen.” — Romans 11:36 🤍
Thank you for loving this little shed.
Thank you for loving the people in this community.
Thank you for trusting me enough to be a tiny part of it.
To God be ALL the glory. 🤍
