🇺🇸 Getting Slaton ready for the 4th, one banner at a time.

This is Sherrell Wilson, part-owner of Slaton Bakery and a lifelong supporter of the Slaton community. While he's mostly retired these days, you'll still find him lending a hand wherever he's needed, whether that's at the bakery or around town.

This week, Sherrell was out on the square hanging patriotic bunting and helping prepare downtown Slaton for Independence Day festivities.

We jokingly told him he ought to run for mayor. His response?

"I'd make too many people mad." 😂

In all seriousness, we're grateful for people like Sherrell who quietly give their time and energy to make our community a better place. The traditions we enjoy each year don't happen by accident - they happen because people like Sherrell step up and make them happen.

The Slaton Chamber of Commerce 4th of July Parade will take place Saturday, July 4, beginning at 9:30 a.m. (line-up starts at 9:00 a.m. at Slaton High School).

Thank you, Sherrell, for helping keep the spirit of Slaton alive. ❤️

Last week, our Slaton Bakery family had the privilege of visiting UMC Children's Hospital and delivering special gift boxes to some truly incredible kids.

The smiles, courage, and joy we witnessed during our visit reminded us that sometimes the sweetest moments have nothing to do with what comes out of the oven.

Thank you to UMC Children's Hospital for allowing us to spend time with these amazing children and their families. We hope our gift boxes brought a little extra comfort, fun, and encouragement to their day.

Please join us in sending love, prayers, and well wishes to these brave kiddos and the families walking alongside them, as well as the amazing staff that help them to get better. 💙

What an incredible season it's been for Texas Tech Softball. The grit, determination, and heart this team has shown has made all of West Texas proud.

As they take on Texas tonight at 7 PM in the Women's College World Series, we'll be watching, cheering, and rooting for another big win.
