Dessie Ethiopian

Dessie Ethiopian A banquet of dishes awaits you at Dessie, enter and be transported to another world. The restaurant Injera is the national dish in Ethiopia and Eritrea.

Dessie Ethiopian Restaurant and Market in Wheaton lets you enter and be transported to another part of the world finding a feast of exciting tastes. Located at 2655 University Blvd next to Nick's Diner where parking is available. Enter and find yourself transported in what seems like a shop on the out skirts of Dessie, Ethiopia. Menu items include: Yebeg Tibs (tender lamb cubes fried with spices,

hot pepper and onions), Key Wot (fresh beef cooked with hot pepper and Ethiopian spices), Kitfo (minced meat seasoned with spiced butter and hot red pepper) and many others. All meals are served on and with injera, a sourdough-risen flatbread with a unique, slightly spongy texture. Dessie has several types of injera made in part or all with teff flour (a delight for many of those unable to tolerate wheat.) Besides the restaurant there is a small grocery lined with fragrant spices, incense, CDs of Ethiopean music, various staples and several varieties of injera so you can find what you need if want to do your own cooking at home. Many Saturday evenings include traditional music performed by various groups.
