Update : Well as I found out this is not for the weak of heart. We had some pretty intense set backs in my first few events in July. Mostly lack of electrical and needing a bigger breaker panel but also some realizations that a little food trailer just starting out needs more extensive trials and errors and a lot less offerings until you get far more time in the field. Add some 100 degree days and you have a pretty intense weekend launch!

The continuous outages really made for a tuff time and couple that with not being able to bbq at that time and needing more electricity and no sleep… man it was a comedy of errors to say the least.

I’m still trying to dabble and perhaps can work out the issues before fall and I just want to thank the people that helped me in my first few events- mostly tanks for not strangling me.

Kelly Mulkey and Jason , helping me launch thank you ! And Kelly for always being my cheerleader.
William Purdy for pretty much saving me thru it all!
Austin, for his time spent sweating thru a pretty hectic day in a 100degree heat on that last stressful day to support his aunt!

Alex Donnelly for checking in on me and helping me with the literal hitches in my giddy up thank you!

JackandTiffany Donnelly for loaning me a better generator when I was struggling thru the third day of what felt like massive set backs and finally for supporting me and giving me some days to possibly redeem myself and help serve up some treats at their amazing family farm this fall.

also thank you to Susan Miner for driving out to surprise me! But the surprise was on her when we had her step inside a spell to feel the inferno we were working in.

“Start a food trailer, it’ll be fun they say” I have to say -it’s a crazy amount of money to start, intensive labor to build and run and for a clean freak like me it’s quite honestly one of the hardest things I’ve done.

Thank you to everyone who came to see us and for your kind patience.

And special thank you to Busy Bee Cleaners for letting us crash launch at your location and the kindness you showed.
Earl May Shenandoah for working with us thru that squelcher and the 59r for giving us some much needed rest at your cozy accommodations!

Just FYI - we’ll be back with a more streamlined menu this fall to help lesson the load, A bigger breaker panel and a more advanced generator for sure!

But alas I have to work my other career avenue to make that happen!

Here’s to lessons learned and time spent with family!

See you at Beaver Bottom Family Farm & Pumpkin Patch this season.

Garlic-Parmesan Burger Popovers as just one of the cozy bites you’ll see on the trailer menu this season.

Rustic Routes keeps it simple but leans towards hearty. I don’t know about you but I am a flavor craver and these are hard to keep around.

Every food journey has a beginning. Mine started in a single skillet.

Growing up, my dad would make what he called “cowboy food”—a creative mix of everything cooked together. It wasn’t fancy, but it was honest, hearty, and taught me to appreciate the simple creativity in cooking. In many ways, those meals are what sparked the passion for food that I have today.

🍲Food memories are powerful. What’s one of your favorites from childhood?
