🐉 Look who’s back at the Castle…

Sometime every October, usually without warning, Fraida the Dragon returns to her perch high above the Castle doors.

Legend has it that Fraida appears as Halloween draws near to stand guard over the Castle after dark—keeping watch for mischievous ghosts, wandering goblins and anything else that might go bump in the night. 👻🏰

We never know exactly when she’ll arrive. We never quite catch her leaving. But every October, there she is.

Fraida has been part of our Castle story since our very first year in 2020, when our then 3-year-old granddaughter, Livia, gave her the perfect name: Fraida… as in “’fraid of ya!” ❤️

This year, Fraida must have heard about tomorrow night’s W**e Wednesday, because she arrived a little earlier than usual.

🏆 CHEF OF THE YEAR!🏆

We’re incredibly proud to share that our very own 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗳 𝗕𝗿𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸𝘀 has been named the 2026 Chef of the Year by the Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association as part of the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗚𝗶𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁/𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀!

The annual Gilbert/Robinson Awards celebrate the incredible people who make Kansas City’s restaurant and hospitality community so special, while also recognizing and supporting the next generation of culinary talent through scholarships awarded to deserving culinary students.

For those of us at Wandering Vine, we get to see Bryan’s talent, creativity and dedication every day — in every menu, every plate and every experience he creates for our guests. To see him recognized by his peers in Kansas City’s restaurant community is an incredible honor and one we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate.

Bryan & Carla are out of the Castle tonight! 🏰🎶🍷

We’re thrilled to be part of Forte 2026 with the Kansas City Symphony — an incredible evening bringing together live music, local food and drinks, and some of Kansas City’s best.

Bryan & Carla are representing Wandering Vine tonight at the beautiful Shirley Bush Helzberg Symphony House, sharing a little taste of the Castle with guests throughout the evening.

We love getting the chance to step outside our Castle walls and be part of events that celebrate the food, music and people that make Kansas City so special. ❤️

Tonight, we’re hosting our Italian Dinner in support of Slow Food—a nonprofit dedicated to preserving local food traditions, supporting sustainable agriculture, and celebrating the people and ingredients behind the food we eat.

Fresh from the farm to The Castle. 🍅

These gorgeous heirloom tomatoes just arrived from Crums Farm, and they’ll be making their way throughout our menu—from our gazpacho and Steakhouse Wedge to the tonnarelli.

You’ll even find them simply marinated in red w**e vinegar and served alongside a perfectly cooked steak.

It’s one of the many ways we let locally grown, seasonal ingredients inspire what comes out of our kitchen.
