I recieved a phone call this morning from a very upset customer.
His complaint was that it is inappropriate to have a child left alone and unsupervised at the breakfast bar area.
Mind you this child is sitting in her chair, not talking to anyone, and drawing.
When he called to voice his complaint, I allowed to him to fully explain himself and his issue. I then proceeded to tell him that she was my child, who also had her dad and step sister there and we were all watching her while we worked, as we do every Sunday.
He began to raise his voice and tell me that it’s totally unacceptable to have her there and that he feels that I should put her in the back.
I said “so you feel that it’s wrong to have her unsupervised (where I am actually watching her) at the bar, but you feel it’s more appropriate to put her in the back by herself?”
He said well isn’t there a break room or something?
I said yes, but again she would be unsupervised. Verses at the bar area where again.. myself, her dad, and step sister are all watching her.
He became even angrier and told me that I shouldn’t even have her there at all.
So I responded and let him know that if he didn’t like how I ran my establishment, that he was more than welcome to go to a different breakfast restaurant.
He then said f*** you, b****, and hung up.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I do not get babysitters when it comes to my kid. I never did with Natalie. For as long as I can remember, I brought Natalie to work with me. Even before I owned both of my restaurants, with the exception of the times she was with a family member. Now this is MY personal choice as a parent. And no.. I am not knocking anyone who gets a baby sitter for their children, but if I am able to have my kid with me, then that’s exactly where they will be. I am fortunate enough to be able to own my business, and fortunate enough to have well behaved children to be able to do so. I dont know many 4 year olds who can sit for long periods of time and basically entertain themselves for the majority of a work shift. So if you come in, and you are really that bothered by a child sitting there, or any child for that matter in either of my establishments. I CAN and WILL happily show you the door. We are a family restaurant, where kids are more than welcome. Especially mine 🫶🏻
