Kiwi fruit is a much under-appreciated superfood. A recent study in Europe found that people eating this delicious green fruit regularly not only had 39% less risk for throat , but also for cancers of the mouth, pharynx and larynx. Yes, delivers healthy amounts of vitamin C (112 mg per two-fruit serving), folate, dietary fibre and vitamin K1. And it’s got more cancer fighting polyphenols than strawberries. But kiwi is also endowed with melatonin and a unique proteolytic enzyme called actinidin—similar to papain from papaya and bromelain from pineapples. No wonder this superfood has also been linked to better sleep quality, improved DNA repair and less asthma. All this for just 87 calories per serving.
