Update: This is my childhood home.

I am absolutely heartbroken.

After my dad passed away earlier this year, I knew I wanted to make a trip back to Spokane. My plan was to come back in late August or early fall, walk through my old neighborhood, and spend some time reflecting and remembering.

This house wasn't just where I grew up. It holds so many memories of family, friends, and the life that shaped me. This neighborhood will always be home in my heart.

To see it like this... I honestly don't have the words.

Well, this is just heartbreaking.

The home—and the entire neighborhood—I grew up in has burned to the ground.

I was born and raised in Spokane, and a part of me will always call it home. We lived in the Northwest Terrace neighborhood near Sundance and Nine Mile, and my heart is just broken.

Today I was sent a video of my entire block. The homes where my family lived, the streets where I played as a kid, and the neighborhood where so many of my friends grew up... it's all ashes now.

It's hard to put into words what it feels like to watch a place that shaped your childhood disappear.

Please keep everyone affected by these fires in your prayers—the families who have lost their homes, the firefighters risking everything, and the entire Spokane community as they begin the long road to recovery.

Pray for Spokane. ❤️🙏

A new month does not need a perfect plan.

Maybe it begins with one prepared cup, one blank page, and enough quiet to ask, “Lord, what matters today?”

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” — Proverbs 16:3 NIV

What is one small rhythm you want to return to this month?

Renewed strength

You may not feel strong enough for everything ahead of you this week. That’s okay. God never asked you to manufacture endless strength from within yourself.

“Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.” — Isaiah 40:31 NIV

Take this week one day—and perhaps one cup of tea—at a time. Is there anything we can be praying about with you?

A little Friday communi-tea question: If you could sit down for tea with anyone this weekend, who would it be? It could be someone you see all the time, someone far away, someone you miss, or even someone from history. And, of course, what tea would you serve?

We would love to hear your answer below. 🍵

A quiet cup in a noisy world

The world rarely tells us to slow down. There is always something else to accomplish, another worry to carry, or another voice asking for our attention. But sometimes the most faithful thing we can do is pause. Make a cup of tea. Take a deep breath. Sit quietly with God for a few minutes. You don’t need the perfect words or a perfectly peaceful morning. Just come as you are.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10 NIV

What helps you slow down when life feels noisy?
