Beserat Tafesse is back at the pub this Saturday 7pm!

Born to Ethiopian immigrants in the Pacific Northwest, Beserat grew up with a wide array of musical and cultural influences. Traditional Ethio-jazz, the great Stevie Wonder, and his parents’ favorites were all mixed up and strewn together; each uniquely informing and penetrating his mind with a diverse soundscape from an early age.

After attending Central Washington University, Beserat moved to New York to study Jazz trombone at the Manhattan School of Music while shedding nightly with New York’s living Jazz legends.

Before moving back to Seattle, Beserat toured the globe and performed with acts such as the Mambo Jazz Orchestra, the Birdland Big Band, the Slavic Soul Party, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, and King’s Kaleidoscope. He also contributed to Doug Beaver’s Grammy nominated album, Art of the Arrangement.

While he currently spends most of his time in Seattle, Beserat is still much a part of the national music scene while also teaching at Cornish College for the Arts.
