Happy James Beard Foundation Awards Day!

Wishing the entire Atoma team the best of luck in bringing home a Beard tonight and back to Seattle.

What a throwback to 2024, when I had the honor of sharing this moment with our incredible team. That weekend was a celebration of the work we all pour into this industry—creating experiences, building community, and bringing joy one bite at a time.

The work continues, and so does my love for the craft, the people I get to do it with, and the community that keeps showing up and supporting us along the way.

R&D never tasted so good.

We’re in the kitchen playing with a new steak dish, and this one starts with Collard Greens and Napa Cabbage kimchi.

At Communion, inspiration comes from everywhere—Black foodways, Asian markets, Seattle roots, and the belief that great food happens when cultures meet at the table.

Still testing. Still tasting. Still having fun.

What’s your favorite fermented food? Kimchi, pickles, chow chow, sauerkraut, fish sauce, or something else? Tell us what’s always in your fridge.

This is what the Pacific Northwest tastes like when everyone's invited to the table.

Fresh mussels and clams from Taylor Shellfish Farms, simmered in a rich coconut milk broth with lemongrass, shallot, garlic, and spicy Laotian sausage from Vientiane Grocery. Fragrant, bold, and built for sharing.

Think Seattle seafood culture, but expanded, shaped by migration and memory.

Served with focaccia from Sea Wolf Bakers; bread made for tearing, dipping, and passing hand to hand.

The ocean meets the city and the table is where it all comes together.

ART. CULTURE. COMMUNITY.

This Friday, experience the work of one of Seattle's most compelling contemporary artists during the CD Art Walk.

Communion R&B is excited to host and feature Moses Sun, a Seattle-based artist, curator, and community organizer whose multidisciplinary practice blends hip-hop, jazz, Afrofuturism, and the Black Southern diaspora into powerful visual storytelling.

Drawing inspiration from Black, African, Asian, Middle Eastern, and Latinx diasporic cultures, Moses creates layered works that blur the boundaries between digital and tactile art. Through assemblage, printmaking, digital surfaces, screens, and large-scale murals, his work explores memory, identity, and cultural exchange through the lens of hip-hop's remix culture.

Meet the artist, experience the exhibition, and spend the evening exploring the creativity and energy of Seattle's Central District.

There's a certain kind of love that lives in a pot of greens.

Seasoned & slow-simmered until tender, smoky, and rich with flavor. Add smoked neck bones if you really want to get it going!

A staple rooted in memory. In family recipes. In kitchens where flavor was passed down without measurements, only by feeling.

Greens, Okra or Cabbage?
