With fall bringing sea turtle nesting season to a close, the Sea Island Nature Team is celebrating another successful season!

During 145 mornings of Dawn Patrol, the team monitored 114 loggerhead nests, achieving a 70.1% hatch success rate and counting more than 7,000 hatchlings as they made their way from the dunes to the ocean. Throughout the nesting and hatchling season, 1,374 members and guests took part in sea turtle education programs, learning more about these incredible animals and the importance of protecting them.

While the season may be coming to a close, there’s still plenty to discover. Visit the Sea Island Nature Center this fall and winter to learn more about sea turtles and the many ways you can get involved in protecting this incredible species! 🐢
