American Legion-Smith Warren Post No 367

American Legion-Smith Warren Post No 367 We are the Smith-Warren Post 367 American Legion page. We serve war time veterans and their families. Our room on the ground level is also available for rent.

We have a large hall for rental to be used for weddings, parties and other gatherings. Our entire building is air conditioned in the summer and heated in the winter. Funeral receptions are FREE to the public. We have Gazebo in our Veteran's Memorial Park, to be used for picture taking, weddings, concerts and other ceremonies. We have over 10 tables and 100 chairs for small rental fees. We have sev

eral functions throughout the year. Our annual Chicken Barbecue is held in June. The village Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony is sponsored by the Post. We also flag all veteran's graves in the area. The annual Corn and Sausage Fest is a community and Legion favorite in September. In November we hold our Turkey Party with raffles of turkeys, beef and pork loins, lobster tail, and shrimp. Our Color Guard holds their Spaghetti Dinner in January each year. The Steak Roast held by the SAL is the best around. Our AUX holds its March Meat Madness and More in March. They also have the Poppy Program around Memorial Day. All of their proceeds go to veteran's hospitals, homes, and benefits. The SAL gives food baskets, gift cards, and money at Christmas time. Euchre Tournaments are held each Sunday from September to April, and on Thursdays in July and August. Our Post Color Guard marches in all local parades as well as area fire department parades. Competition in several Legion sponsored parades is also a proud promotion of our Post and all veterans.

The Korean Armistice Agreement

July 27, 2026 marks the 73rd anniversary of the signing of the Korean Armistice Agreement...signed to end active fighting in the Korean War. The era ran from June 25, 1950 to Jan. 31, 1955. Congress extended the period due to the uneasy peace negotiations after the armistice was signed in 1953.
The Korean War was relatively short but very costly in terms of human lives.
The historical facts below are taken from the U.S. Department of Verterans Affairs:
* 6.8 million men and women served from June 27, 1950 to
Jan. 31,1955.
* 54,200 Americans died in service during the hostilities that
ended on July 27, 1953; of these 33,700 were battle deaths.
* There were 7,140 POW's during the war. Of these 4,418 were
returned to the United States, 2,701 died.
* There have been 131 recipients of the Congressional Medal of
Honor among Korean War Veterans.
