Arthur’s Market reopened its doors as a neighborhood café-grocery in 2021.

Located at the heart of Schenectady’s Stockade District, this historic market has been serving the community for over 225 years.

This past weekend was so full and so fun! Saturday’s Stockade Art Show yielded a really great turn out of talented artists and enthusiastic viewers. The Arthur’s team killed it on prep and flowed so well together during super busy hours both Saturday and Sunday! And it all felt extra special because my family was able to join me for much of the time I worked our “quick-grab” table outside.

Seeing Hal and neighborhood buddies hanging out on the sidewalk, having him stand behind my table on a cooler and “serve” customers with me, and watching him engage so happily with others filled my heart. I also felt so supported (for the millionth time) by my husband, who gets the real childcare credit and who spotted us on emergency phone charger and ice runs, and by all the loving adults around me (Susan Conway!) who held Hal or kept him from falling off the cooler when my “helper” needed a little help and my hands were full.

They say, it takes a village, and I guess this is my way of saying “thank you and I love you” to that community!

Today is The Stockade Art Show, one of our favorite days in the neighborhood! Come stroll the Stockade’s beautiful, historic streets; see the works of so many talented artists, including Wendy Allen who has painted the most charming images of our shop; and build a bouquet with Susan Conway while you’re at it!

This weekend (tomorrow and Sunday) we’re serving up espresso lemonades as part of our “Brought To You By” drinks series! 🪄☕️ This series features one-weekend-only drink specials by one of our very talented, creative baristas!

Our espresso lemonades feature Natalie’s fresh lemonade and No. Six Depot Roastery & Cafe espresso for a refreshing, delicious sip. This summer drink is brought to you by alexandra bonack, who shared her source of inspiration below:

“There are many things I love about summer, but most of all, it’s the season when Ben and I crossed paths in the heat of July over espresso lemonades. Ever since, this drink has become so much more than something people might initially dismiss.

On our first date, I’d never tried an espresso lemonade. What was supposed to be an ordinary summer afternoon ended with me discovering two new favorite things. We bonded over the novelty and somewhere between the first sip and the conversation, a memory was made that I’d carry with me long after summer ended.

I wanted to bring a little piece of that memory to you. Something to help you beat the midsummer heat, to bring you and your favorite person together, but also a reminder that sometimes the best things begin with saying yes to something new.”

“Chew, chewier, chewiest!” Overheard at the big wood table earlier this week, as one happy person sat enjoying the first few bites of our new brown butter chocolate chip cookie!

Made with nutty brown butter, our signature chocolate chunks, and topped with flaky Maldon salt, this cookie does the impossible—it improves on our best selling chocolate chip. Come try it for yourself and tell us what you think!
