WORLD CHAMPIONS! ⚖️🌍

The Ateneo de Manila University School of Law has won the Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition, one of the world’s leading international environmental law moot court competitions.

The 2026 International Finals in Gulfport, Florida brought together 22 teams from 12 countries across five continents: Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Colombia, India, Ireland, Kenya, Pakistan, the Philippines, Republic of Korea, Singapore, and the United States.

Ateneo emerged as International Finals Champion, defeating fellow Philippine representative West Visayas State University College of Law in an all-Filipino championship round. Peking University School of Transnational Law of China and Singapore Management University reached the semifinals.

The Ateneo team was composed of Dana Mica Torregosa, John Matthew A. Tuazon, Dorothy Tuazon, and Ralf Michael Borja, with coaches Atty. Ian Dominic II Mallillin, Atty. Deanne Marieli Pangan, and Atty. Isabelle Beatriz Ginez.

The victory came after a global competition cycle involving more than 150 teams through national and regional rounds. Ateneo had also previously reached the Finals in 2007 before returning to capture the championship this year.

Adding to the team’s achievement, John Matthew A. Tuazon was named Best Oralist in the Preliminary Rounds, finishing first among more than 70 competitors.

Founded in 1996, the Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition is recognized as the world’s largest moot court competition devoted exclusively to global environmental issues.

For the Philippines, the result was especially notable as two Filipino law schools advanced to the championship round of a major world moot court competition.
