We have been asked to help get the information out for a very special project from a dear friend of ours at Wally's Bar & Grill. Lynn and her late husband Tom Kirkaldy are some of the best people our communities have to offer. This is a fantastic project where the land has been donated. Please take a minute to read it over. Introducing the Tri-Community Fennville “Raising Roofs” Project
In Partnership with Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity
We are excited to introduce the Tri-Community Fennville “Raising Roofs” Project—the first project of its kind in the area.
Many years ago, my husband and I decided that we wanted to pay it forward to the communities where we had lived, worked, and enjoyed life for more than 36 years. Prior to his passing in 2018, we separated a piece of land from his business property with the hope that someday it could be used to benefit our community.
I am now incredibly excited to have begun that journey with Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity by working toward something our area desperately needs: affordable housing.
This project brings an exciting new vision to the City of Fennville—a community coming together to create affordable housing and a neighborhood where families can put down roots, build connections, and truly belong.
This groundbreaking project represents much more than simply building one or two homes. The proposed community will include approximately 15–17 homes and townhomes, providing affordable housing for local families.
What makes this project especially exciting is the vision for the neighborhood itself.
Homes will be thoughtfully arranged around shared green spaces designed to bring people together. Front porches and interior kitchen areas will overlook common green spaces and thoughtfully designed yards, creating places where neighbors can connect and parents can watch their children play.
Another important part of this vision is connectivity.
Located only about three blocks from downtown Fennville, families will be within walking distance of schools, doctors, dentists, a pharmacy, grocery store, restaurants, playgrounds, and other important community resources. The Interurban also provides connections throughout our tri-community area.
A Vision That Has Already Become a Reality
Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity's first vision for this type of community has already become a reality in Holland with Vista Green, located on 34th Street.
Vista Green is a new community within a community—a vision that came to life several years ago. I encourage you to take the time to drive there and see firsthand how that vision has been transformed into reality.
Vista Green serves as an inspiring example of what can be achieved when people and communities come together to create a better future for everyone.
Now It Is Fennville’s Turn
Groundbreaking for the Tri-Community Fennville “Raising Roofs” Project is currently anticipated for late 2027.
And this is where all of our communities come in.
Bringing a project of this size to life will take all of us. It will require financial support, donated building materials, skilled tradespeople, local businesses, sponsors, and community volunteers who are willing to help turn this vision into reality.
Together, we are not simply Raising Roofs...
We are Raising Opportunities.
We are Raising Possibilities.
We are Raising a Neighborhood.
We are Strengthening Our Entire Tri-Community.
