🏙️ Historic Spotlight: 117 E Dewey, Sapulpa 🏙️
Want to take a walk through time? Let’s talk about 117 E Dewey Avenue — one of downtown Sapulpa’s gems with deep roots and character.
🕰️ Built in 1907, this building has stood for over a century, bearing witness to the rise and evolution of Sapulpa’s downtown.
📍 It’s part of the Sapulpa Downtown Historic District as a contributing building. That means it’s not just old — it’s part of what makes downtown unique, a piece of the bigger story.
🏢 Architecturally, you’ll notice its commercial‑style brick façade, ribbon windows on the second floor, some stone detailing—elements that give it that early 20th‑century flavor.
🛍️ Over the decades, it has housed stores that were central to daily life: King's Kash Koncern, Kaufman & Meyer, Newberry’s, later Dollar General, and other department or retail shops — places people went to buy goods, meet neighbors, or just window‑shop and gossip.
It sat empty for several years, until purchased by Senegence to create office space. In 2021 work began on the Crossroads Coffee Lab. The coffee business opened inside of what was to become the Crossroads Cookery, and today the restaurant and coffee lab sit on historic Route 66 inviting travelers to the spot where nostalgia and possibilities merge.
