This premium grade lot comes from the Kiangoi Coffee Factory, in the foothills of towering Mount Kenya. Careful picking, sorting, and milling brings out the vibrant acidity and ultra-expressive character that we look for and love in Kenyan coffees.

Chicago, what a day! ☕ We loved cheering on the runners and celebrating with spectators all across the city at this year’s . Thank you to everyone who stopped by our truck for a well-deserved post-race coffee, visited our expo booth to say hello, and picked up our 26.2 Blend. We raise our cups to every runner, fan, and cheer squad!

Each year, we share entries to the Bank of America with runners in our local community.

Joining us this year is Ana Atanasio - embarking on her second marathon after taking up running as a therapeutic outlet for her many roles in life. In addition to serving at Intelligentsia partner , Ana is a Chicago teacher and mother. “I have learned a lot, not just about the sport, but about myself,” Ana says. “I also got to know the beautiful neighborhoods and the diversity of our city.”

Chris Moody found a running community in Chicago that inspired him to train for his third marathon. For him, running changed from a wellness journey to a home base with . “This is the capstone of the journey, the race that started me on the plan of a marathon,” Chris said.

Rarely do we get to offer two differently processed coffees from the same region at once, but today we have that privilege.

El Salvador Malacara SL-28 and La Reforma Geisha Natural come from two different farms run by members of the Alvarez family, some of our earliest direct trade partners. Both are grown around the slopes of the Santa Ana volcano, and together they showcase the incredible diversity of coffees that can come from a single region.

A show-stopping espresso, Colombia Cauca Castillo was originally planned to be a component of our Black Cat Classic blend. But after several cuppings, we realized this one is just too good not to share on its own.

An experimental new variety, H1 is a high-yielding and exceptionally high-quality coffee that comes to us from Guatemala. Our longtime partner Mauricio Rosales was amongst a handful of producers to acquire this lot and grew it in his variety garden, Kape’tenango.
