If it feels like a friends and family place, that’s because it is. The OP Café, a hidden gem discovered in Sunset Park along Santa Monica’s southern border, has been nourishing the neighborhood with flavorful breakfast and lunch fare served fresh daily since 1996. The vintage bungalow-sized café and secluded patio with a nod to Ocean Park history and homage to the early heroes of the Santa Monica

Lifeguard Service, is beloved by locals and loyalists for its relaxed beach-town charm, friendly service, and even friendlier prices. The OP is family-owned by Mark and Lani Verge, lifelong Santa Monica residents, and one of four On The Verge Hospitality restaurants on the Westside including Art’s Table, Margo;s on Montana Avenue and Ashland Hill on Main Street in historic Ocean Park. Mark, Lani, and the OP crew invite you to come in and enjoy our menu of fresh favorites and take in our recently mounted historic photography exhibit, Santa Monica Lifeguards c.1880-1980, at our neighboring Ocean Park Hotel. The OP Café would like to thank historian Arthur C. Verge, III, a 30-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Lifeguard Service and author of “Santa Monica Lifeguards, Images of America,” Arcadia Press, for inspiration and use of archival photos.
