When Bill and Alice Jennison first opened Tecolote Cafe on June 2nd, 1980, they intended to serve the best breakfast in town, in a cheerful, at home atmosphere, and at a reasonable price. Now, three decades later, Katie ( who grew up in Tecolote learning cuisine from an early age at her fathers' knee) and husband Matt, still strive for these qualities in loving honor of Bill and Alice Jennison, th

eir beloved Father and Mother. Whether you are greeted by our Owners or any of our experienced crew members, we guarantee that your experience will be enjoyable from start to finish. We are here to please you, so sit back, relax and enjoy your meal with our family. Actually, Bill named the cafe after the town, and not the bird. When Bill first moved to Northern New Mexico, he was enchanted by the all-but-deserted village along the railroad tracks about ten miles south of Las Vegas, NM. The owl has represented different things to different people over the millennia. Almost every culture has used the owl in its myths and legends. The owl has been both feared the revered, and even worshiped as a God. Ancient Athenians called him the bird of wisdom. We think owls are beautiful, and we think you will make a wise choice if you join us for breakfast or lunch. Bill's passion still lives on in the food as we continue to retain the legacy that he has built over the past 30 years. We will always remember you, Mr.

To everyone that has been, is, or would have been a part of Tecolote:

It is with extremely heavy hearts that we are announcing our permanent closure. We have been hit with a set of circumstances that are insurmountable, including a serious health diagnosis.

For almost 40 years our restaurant has been part of this community, building relationships, feeding people, and giving back. We have watched children grow, relationships bloom, and even felt the pain of loss with the passing of the people that have been a part of us. For some of us here, it has been our life; the customers our family.

We would like to thank everyone that has been part of us over the years. Without your support, we would have never made it this far. We look forward to seeing you in the community. It has been an honor to feed you.

We are closed effective 4 p.m. today. We will meet staff tomorrow to deliver paychecks and remove personal items from the location. We're sorry for the short notice.

Hey everyone. Unfortunately were having some plumbing problems😬 and will not be open for dinner tonight 4/24😔.. Sorry for the inconvenience. We will be ready for Angels night out tomorrow night. We're donating 25% of sales to Kitchen Angels. Hope to see you tomorrow night for a great cause.

Dinner hours start from 3:00p.m and end at 8:30p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
