For nearly a decade, Open Kitchen has created and curated original, unforgettable shared food experiences that celebrate joyful human connections. Now, Open Kitchen Chef-Owner Hue Chan Karels and Executive Chef Erica Tai are excited to bring Santa Fe a restaurant that pays homage to their Asian culinary roots and brings to life ancestral recipes, stories, and memories of flavors combined with their innovative approach. We aspire to transport guests to the vibrant, rich, and diverse culinary heritage of Vietnam, Taiwan, Korea, and Hawaii's Pacific Rim with an innovative spirit. Our food menu draws from and reinterprets heirloom recipes in a modern context, combining traditional and contemporary techniques to create exciting layers of flavors and diverse textures. An exciting beverage menu harmonizes with the ingredients and flavor profiles of our dishes, from interesting, eclectic w**e and b**r to creative craft cocktails and mocktails with fresh housemade mixers to heighten the overall dining experience of our guests.

Last week at the Santa Fe W**e & Chile Fiesta, Chefs
Hue-Chan Karels and Erica Tai had such a wonderful time at the Chef & Sommelier Throwdown Luncheon with the incredible Kristina Hayden Bustamante.

Alkemē’s Duck Confit Two Ways brought Vietnamese yellow curry together with Ch*****ne–rau răm pickled grapes and grilled radicchio. It’s a dish that reflects Vietnamese Heritage, In Motion at Alkemē and the collaboration between Chef Erica and me.

We paired it with a 2023 Selbach-Oster Mosel Riesling Kabinett; Kristina chose Cleto Chiarli Lambrusco del Fondatore from Emilia-Romagna. Both w**es brought something different to the dish, and we were delighted the guests chose our Riesling pairing. Thank you to everyone who shared the luncheon with us! 🍷

In partnership with Revive Media, we used produce from and delivered over 120 meals to the farm’s Community Fridge.

At Alkemē, community engagement is not separate from the restaurant’s work. It is part of how the team
