Twin Acres Ice Cream Shoppe, which sits on two acres of beautifully manicured land, got its start in the mid-1970s in a one-car garage located next to a cottage colony that was built in the 1940s. Rundown and up for sale in 1990, Phil Barrett and his wife Emily saw it as a great opportunity to employ local high school and college kids while also putting smiles on those same faces by serving some o

f the best-tasting ice cream on Cape Cod. The Barretts purchased Twin Acres that year and began the process of redesigning and developing it into the Twin Acres that we know today! The grounds, which are located on historic Route 6A in Sandwich, MA, offer patrons a park-like setting with nurtured,lush gardens of dogwoods, hydrangeas, daisies, climbing roses, lilys and more all beneath old-growth shade trees. Patrons can choose from a wide variety of hard serve and soft serve ice cream flavors that will undoubtedly satisfy any pallet. Over the years Twin Acres has become a summer mainstay for Cape residents and visitors alike.

Today, we proudly wear something red to honor and remember all those deployed across this great nation and around the world, serving and protecting our country. We also recognize the families who stand behind them every day with love, pride, and concern while their heroes are away. Wearing red is a simple but meaningful way to show our support and appreciation.

I hope to see you and your four legged friends today at our annual Cups4Pups with RepX at Twin Acres in beautiful Sandwich on Route 6A from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

You’ll also have the chance to meet my legislative aide, Trace, better known around the district as “Trace on the Case.” Trace is a four-year-old rescued Weimaraner with a big heart. He’s friendly, a little shy at first, and always happy to make new friends.

This is a great opportunity to connect, ask questions, share ideas, and enjoy one of the best traditions of summer on Cape Cod with neighbors from across the Fightin’ Fifth District.
