Today is Juneteenth 🤍❤️💙
And while we celebrate our freedom, our culture, and our ancestors, let’s also be honest with ourselves…
We have become so quick to repost, wear the wrong colors, say the words, and follow what everyone else is doing without taking a moment to ask, “Do I truly understand what I’m representing?” 👀
That is where we lose our power.
The Juneteenth flag itself tells a story…..The white star represents freedom spreading beyond Texas, the burst symbolizes a new beginning, the horizon line represents new possibilities, and the red and blue remind us that Black history is deeply rooted in the American story.
Our downfall has always been accepting information without seeking truth for ourselves. We cannot continue to move through life only following trends. We must become students of our own history, our own culture, and our own liberation.
Don’t just celebrate Juneteenth.
Understand it. Teach it. Protect the knowledge. Pass it on.
Because a people who know their history know their power. 💪🏾
