What a summer it’s been.

Without our Union Street home, GIO has been on the move more than ever, from celebrations around the Bay to w**e country, local grocery stores, and plenty happening behind the scenes.

We’ve served gelato from the GIO Cart, joined Raymond Vineyards for Gelato in the Grove, spent a wonderful day at Taste of Napa, watched our piccolo containers reach more neighborhood markets, and started building our new production lab.

And through all of it, we’ve been working toward something that means so much to us: bringing GIO back home to the Marina.

Thank you to everyone who has eaten, celebrated, partnered, shared, donated, or simply stopped to say hello this summer. You’ve been part of the journey.

Gene, a good friend and SF native talks about how a problem we hoped would be temporary turned into a long-term closure.

Long before GIO Gelati existed, I was already falling in love with San Francisco.

I was working for Disney and living in Los Angeles at the time, and my work regularly brought me north for meetings with Pixar and Lucas. Every time I came to San Francisco, I fell a little more in love with the city.

Years later, I returned while running a consulting company working with startups. And, as usual, I found myself looking for a good gelato.

Eventually I had a thought: maybe I should open one myself.
