A place to BELONG and GROW in downtown San Jose. Hours: Monday through Friday from 10am-4pm. Members Our loving accountability empowers growth and recovery.

RCSJ creates community that supports healing from trauma, addiction, homelessness, and mental health challenges. We provide a refuge where members gather for group meals, participate in Recovery Circles, take classes to learn job and life skills, make connections to other community resources, and enjoy social activities in a sober and supportive environment.

Looking back at these moments from last year reminds us of what makes the Café so special... our community and the beautiful diversity of the people who walk through our doors.

This month, on June 26, we are hosting a special celebration for our members to honor the milestones that matter to them. Whether celebrating a birthday, a sobriety anniversary, or personal growth, we want to lift them up!

No matter your race, gender, or sexuality, Recovery Café San José is meant to be a place of love and support. We look forward to sharing this meaningful day with our member community! 😊

Member Story of the Month: Manny Salazar ❤️

This poem was written by Manny during his time in prison. Recently he celebrated one year of sobriety, has graduated from Judge Manley's court, and is now off of probation and parole.

Manny, your Recovery Cafe San Jose family is so incredibly proud of your resilience, your truth, and your freedom. Thank you for showing us what is possible.

At the end of May, we celebrated the end of our Peer Support Internships at the Cafe. This was a 1 year internship where interns use their lived experience to support newer members at the cafe in one-on-one meetings. We are so proud of this accomplishment and are so excited for their next steps.

Today, we acknowledge the graduates: Margaret, Jackie, Laura, Brian, Rico, Rosanna & Kathy. We'd also like to give a special shoutout to Jackie and Laura who completed the Medical State certification during their internship. With both passing the exam, they are now Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialists!

Congratulations to all of the graduates! 🎓

Behind every event or milestone at Recovery Café San José is the everyday community built inside! ☕️

On any ordinary day, you’ll find members sharing meals, checking in with each other, showing up for Recovery Circles, and spending time together in a space built around connection and belonging. Recovery here is not about quick fixes. It’s about having a community to come back to, people who know your name and walk alongside you through the ups and downs.

Also, thank you to Saint Francis High School for donating the clothes featured in the second photo. Small acts of generosity like that go a long way in helping members feel cared for and supported!

A special day with our Community Chorus at Recovery Café San José!

Members gathered to celebrate Jason as he heads into a new chapter, sharing music, memories, and time together one more time. We were also happy to have Perry back with the chorus, a longtime member who has always been an important part of this community.

Last week at The Cafe, we celebrated our Trauma Recovery graduates led by our amazing behavioral specialist. As a part of our School for Recovery, participants explored how trauma shows up in the body and practiced tools they can use in everyday life when things get overwhelming.

The most captivating part? How they showed up for each other, held space with care, and respected each other’s privacy the whole way through. We're so proud of this group and the work they put in! 🎓
