Their journey to the United States made mine possible. I worked at Celia's in San Rafael from the early 80's through the late 90's. When I opened Papalote Aunt Celia would come by and cheer me on. The first two years were really hard (...actually, the first 25 years have been really hard). We would sit at the stools by the door and she would tell me not to give up. And I haven't.
This is a nice article by Sf Gate describing the first and second generations of a family of restaurateurs that came from Celia's #1. I am the third generation.
Papalote Mexican Grill and Papalote Salsas wouldn't exist without her.
