Last month you all helped us raise over $2000 for the PCRF in support of Middle Eastern children facing unfathomable hardships. While we love feeding our community and making our guests’ lives a little better, we still can’t help feeling like we need to find a way to do more. It doesn’t feel right to stand back and enjoy the little cozy corner of the world we have created for ourselves and our guests. We want to use whatever privilege or platform we have to help the oppressed and fight the oppressors.

So! We’re going to keep it going. Every Wednesday in June we pledge to donate 5% of our sales to the Trevor Project, the leading su***de and crisis NPO for LGBTQ+ youth nationwide. Come dine with us on Wednesdays in June and have a little serving of resistance alongside your fried chicken (or excellent and extravagant vegan entree!).

In our continuing quest to bring some yum into the yucky world, and in celebration of Pride month, year and forever; we are donating 5% of sales every Wednesday in June to the Trevor Project, supporting and protecting LGBTQ+ young people.

For the entire month of May, 10% of our Wednesday sales have gone to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund. It’s the last Wednesday of the month which also means it’s the last night for this fundraiser but this all made us feel really good so we’ll probably do something else soon. Stay tuned.

We are blown away by the support last Wednesday in our effort to raise funds for the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund. We were able to raise $700 in just one night, which is a lot to us!! If it is not a lot to you, we are doing it again tomorrow and there are some really expensive wines on our list, to help us and you be even more impactful 😉. Thanks for showing up!

Friday, May 1st, is international Workers’ Day, as well as another general strike. We wish we could take part in every action against this illegal, immoral, greedy and self serving administration and its enablers. For the previous general strike in January, we closed in solidarity and even paid our staff for the day. Sadly, we’re still feeling the impact of that decision and are not in a position to close our doors again without putting our team and our business at risk. We’re finding it hard to balance showing up for something bigger while also taking care of the people who rely on this place day to day. If you’re able to participate in this day of action, we support you and we encourage you to make your voice heard with your wallet by stepping away from corporations like Amazon, Target, Home Depot, and any company that has supported this administration or failed to support workers’ rights. If you are coming for dinner tomorrow, consider using cash to help keep money out of the credit card companies’ pockets. It’s not lost on us where we’re communicating this either; so yeah, f**k Zuck, too. And unequivocally, f**k ICE.

We have decided to close for the evening of Friday, January 30th to participate in the national shutdown/general strike; a day of action in response to the atrocities of ICE operations in Minnesota, and the harm generated by this administration across the country. We struggled with this decision, but as the date approaches, and the atrocities continue to escalate, we feel compelled to act. We sincerely regret disappointing our customers, but there is no “business as usual” when our neighbors and our communities are being brutalized. Please consider making a donation with the money that you would have spent on dinner to the Immigration Institute of the Bay Area or a like cause. And if you still need dinner for the evening, please consider supporting an immigrant owned small business. Thank you for understanding, and for standing with us. It may not be obvious from the photo, but this white chocolate s’more cheesecake is just a wee dessert. It’s literally like 3 reasonable bites (1 for some, maybe 6 for the especially dainty). We Fireflies recognize the importance of something sweet after a dinner, but also recognize that a more traditionally sized dessert is sometimes just too much of a good thing. If you recognize that too much of a good thing can itself be a good thing, then we have desserts for you that are more substantial. But be prepared for people to expect you to share.
