Okay, I have some really exciting news to share… 🥹

My Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Gerse won a 🥇Gold Medal in the Filter, Washed category at the Global Coffee Awards

Honestly, I entered because I wanted to challenge myself and receive feedback from the judges. I wasn’t expecting to win anything. When I saw the email, I read it several times just to make sure they had the right roaster 😂

This coffee went through 8 different roast profiles before we chose the one to submit. I took lots of notes, changed tiny things, and probably stared at the roast curves for far too long.

Every green coffee has its own character. My job as a roaster is to understand what is already there and create the right “recipe” to bring out its very best. That lesson completely changed the way I roast, and I’m still learning every day.

I especially want to thank Valerian Hrala for teaching me so much more than how to operate a roaster. He helped me understand the fundamentals of roasting and taught me to see it as an art, a lot like cooking.

Thank you to Primavera Green Coffee for sourcing this beautiful coffee and for all the work you do to connect producers and roasters.

And thank you to Jonny Jonny and Lily Lily Logan for cupping all the different profiles with me and helping me choose the best one to submit. I’m so grateful I didn’t have to make that decision alone.

This medal may have my name on it, but so many people helped bring this coffee to life. Thank you to everyone who has taught me, tasted coffee with me, encouraged me, and supported Camonn along the way.

Camonn 🤎
This coffee is currently out of stock but will restock soon. Comment “Gerse” and I’ll DM you when it’s avaialble to purchase.

September is looking BUSY 🐝

If you ask me if I’m tired, definitely yes 🫢 But I’m even more excited, so it’s all worth it.

I can’t wait to meet you, share the new beans I’ve been working hard to source and roast, and introduce some new fall cold foam flavors that have been keeping me busy with lots of R&D. But mostly, I’m just excited to hang out with you all 🤎

Come to one or all of my September pop ups if you can. I can’t wait to see you!

New coffee beans are dropping on the website very soon 👀

We are back at Fellow tomorrow (8/30) from 10-2pm

I’m bringing pour overs back and of course my signature cold brews with cold foam 🤍

Come grab a coffee and stay for a bit. I’d love to make you a pour over, share some of the beans I’ve been excited about, what I’ve been roasting lately, and all the little things I’m learning along the way. Or if that is way too much coffee talk for a sunday… we can literally talk about anything 😂

Come spend part of your sunday with me. see you tomorrow at Fellow 10-2pm, Aug 30

This morning I’m letting myself have a slow morning and actually sit down with a pour over.

Running Camonn by myself means there’s always something waiting for me. Roasting, packing orders, designing, posting, answering messages, prepping for pop-ups. Sometimes I get so caught up trying to do everything that even taking 20 minutes to do nothing feels wrong.

But I’m learning that a slow morning doesn’t mean I’m falling behind. Sometimes you just need to make yourself a good cup of coffee, sit somewhere quiet, and enjoy it before going back to everything waiting for you.

So if you’ve been feeling a little overwhelmed lately too, slow down for a bit. Make a coffee. Everything else can wait for 20 minutes.

For me though… right after this cup, it’s back to pop-up prep 😂

Come chill with me tomorrow at the P.F. CANDLE CO. store from 11-3pm

P.S. If you noticed my pour over hit 5:37… I was filming and completely forgot about the time. Get the vibe, not the recipe. Cheers 🤎

Thank you Paper Son Coffee , for sharing your counter and letting me take over your slow bar tomorrow. I’ll be keeping things simple and serving cold brew only, topped with my hand-drawn cold foam art.

I’m really grateful for all the support from everyone at Paper Son. You made this pop up so easy and smooth to put together. Running a small coffee business can sometimes feel overwhelming, so having people who are willing to help, encourage, and make space for you means a lot.

Coffee is what brings us together, but it’s really the people that make these events special. Thank you for making Camonn feel so welcome.

And a little update: you can now find Camonn Coffee beans at Paper Son too. If you’ve been wanting to take a bag home, your favorite coffee shop has you covered

Hope to see some familiar faces tomorrow 🤎

Still coffee related, but this post is a little different.

I had the chance to attend a coffee tasting at Boot Coffee Campus this weekend. The lineup featured several Best of Panama Geisha lots that have been frozen since the 2022 auction and only recently opened for tasting.

Of course, the coffees were incredible. But what I enjoyed most was being surrounded by people who are just as curious about coffee as I am. Events like this help bring some balance back and remind me why I fell in love with coffee in the first place.

There’s always more to learn, and it’s even more fun when you’re learning alongside other people who are just as curious and passionate about coffee. Really grateful for the opportunity, and already looking forward to the next tasting.

Just a few moments from my recent pop-ups. Roasting coffee is still my main thing, but these pop-ups let me come out of my little roasting cave, meet more of you, and share how my coffee tastes. I truly love doing this, even when I’m running around carrying way too many things. Hope to see more of you at my next one 👀

Origin | Ethiopia

Region | Yirgacheffe, Gerse

Producer | Small Producers

Lot | Microlot

Variety | Heirloom

Process | Washed

Roast | Light

Recommended for | Pour Over and Drip Brewing

Recommended Rest | 2 weeks from Roasting Date

This is the kind of coffee that immediately caught our attention for how delicate, bright, and incredibly clean it tastes.

Grown in Gerse, Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia, this microlot comes from small producers growing heirloom coffee varieties. Yirgacheffe is known for coffees with beautiful floral aromatics and tea-like qualities, and this lot is such a lovely expression of that character.

The coffee is washed processed, which gives the cup a beautiful clarity and lets its more delicate flavors come through. Instead of heavy fruit or fermentation, this coffee feels light, fresh, and elegant.

In the cup, the first thing we notice is fresh blueberry, sweet and juicy rather than jammy. As it cools, a soft elderflower aroma opens up followed by juicy fresh blueberry and a tea-like Earl Grey finish with a subtle tangy aftertaste.

What we love most about this coffee is how quietly expressive it is. There is nothing loud or overwhelming about it. Every sip feels clean and layered, and the flavors become more noticeable as the coffee cools.

If you enjoy coffees that are bright, floral, tea-like, and full of clarity, this is one we think you will really love.

Okayyy I’m very excited to share with you that I made a new seasonal drink for my next pop-up at Abacus Row

Jasmine Olive Oil Cloud - featuring my little square-face cat, who has somehow become part of the Camonn team without ever being hired.

The olive oil cloud was inspired by the olive oil flavor from Salt & Straw ice cream. I loved it so much that I kept thinking… wait, what if I put this in coffee??

So here we are

The cold brew is made with my new Ethiopia Gerse, lightly roasted and super bright and fruity, then topped with a soft jasmine olive oil cloud and a square face cat drawn by me.

I’ll be at Abacus Row today at 10AM with cloud & crumb bakery and Fortune Paperie | Asian-inspired Stationery ! Come hang out, try the new drink, let me draw you a cat, grab some pastries and postcards 🤍

I’m only serving cold brew drinks at today’s pop up because I want to put all my attention into making and drawing each cup. Please don’t expect identical cats. They have their own personalities 🤎

See you soon!
