Summer’s warm, relaxing days offer plenty of opportunities for fun, ⛱ ☀️ 🌭 but before you fire up the grill and invite everyone over, take these six steps to make your home safer. 🏡
1. Avoid building a firepit close to your home and don’t store logs or other flammable items close to it.
2. Keep a fire extinguisher, garden hose, or bucket of water on hand in case of a fire.
3. Add a pool fence that meets local codes, surround it with a nonslip surface to prevent falls, and closely supervise children as they swim.
4. Enclose a trampoline with a safety net and supervise your children as they play.
5. If building a tree house, construct it no higher than ten feet above the ground and cover the area beneath it with wood mulch or another soft material.
6. Anchor your playground on level soil, surround it with shredded rubber or another protective covering, and keep a close eye on your children.
By taking a few precautions, you can help make your home a safer place for everyone this summer. 🏡 ☀️ 🙌 Share your summer home safety tips in the comments!
