That beloved quote is commonly attributed to Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz โ€” and sometimes accompanied by an illustration of Charlie Brown, Linus, Snoopy and Woodstock sharing a plate of chocolate-chip cookies.

While the internet is divided about the quoteโ€™s provenance, there hasnโ€™t been much debate about our decadent new chocolate dessert โ€” a gluten-free fudge brownie surrounded by miso-infused caramel and topped with banana brown-sugar ice cream, dark chocolate crรฉmeux, torched Italian meringue and a delicate sesame tuile.

Itโ€™s a quick crowd-pleaser โ€” and brings to mind yet another popular quote of unknown origin: โ€œChocolate is the answer. Who cares what the question is.โ€ โ™ฅ๏ธ๐Ÿซ

As San Antonio Express-News food critic Mike Sutter has pointed out, โ€œThe menu of fried oyster sliders, seared scallops and duck with foie gras hasnโ€™t changed much since Bliss opened in 2012. And thatโ€™s just fine with me.โ€

Weโ€™re incredibly grateful that many of our regulars feel the same way. And while certain Bliss classics remain steadfast, weโ€™re excited to introduce a refreshed version of our dinner menu โ€” just as San Antonio prepares to celebrate Fiesta.

First introduced in 1950 at Giuseppe Ciprianiโ€™s legendary Venetian restaurant Harryโ€™s Bar, beef carpaccio takes its name from Vittore Carpaccio โ€” an Italian Renaissance painter who favored deep reds in his canvases. A recent arrival on our dinner menu, Bliss Executive Chef Tony Hernandezโ€™s painterly take on the classic features thinly sliced beef tenderloin, crispy shallots, black sesame parmesan tuiles, capers, red pepper and citrus horseradish cream.

Fun fact: In addition to inventing beef carpaccio โ€” specifically for Countess Amalia Nani Mocenigo โ€” Giuseppe Cipriani (1900-1980) is the creator of another Italian classic: the Bellini.

Please join us in congratulating longtime Bliss server Marcy Fernandez on her recent appointment as front of house co-manager! A San Antonio native who grew up in Atlanta, Fernandez joined the Bliss team on day one back in February of 2012 and has filled in as Maรฎtre dโ€™Hรดtel on a number of occasions โ€” making her an ideal fit for the job.
