We are saddened to hear of the passing of one of our former employee, David Stakes. He was truly one of the kindest, most helpful souls we ever had the pleasure of knowing and working with. His presence and kindness left a lasting impact on all of us.
Our hearts and prayers are with his son, his mother, and all of his loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. We are keeping them close in our thoughts as they navigate this heartbreaking loss

Friends, family, and former coworkers are remembering David Stakes as "one of the kindest, most genuine people" after he was killed in a train incident near downtown on Wednesday night. Stakes, 40, died after he was struck by a passing train around 10 p.m. near East Lachapelle and South Flores Street.

During the middle of a lunch rush today, a man called the restaurant and asked for the manager.

I said, “I can help you.”

He goes:
“Y’all have a bunch of nostalgic stuff hanging on the walls… why do you have a Mexican flag up and not an American flag?”

Sir… you called a burger joint during peak lunch hours to conduct an investigation on wall decor? 😂

Not “What time do y’all close?”
Not “Do y’all have fries?”
Not even “Can I place an order?”

Nope. Man saw a Mexican flag and launched a full-scale decorative audit.

I’m just curious if he’d be comfortable with me walking into his house like:
“Interesting choice on the farmhouse kitchen signs, Gary. But where’s your Route 66 neon? Explain yourself.”

People really get upset when a business reflects the culture and family behind it.

Anyway… the burgers were still flying out of the kitchen, customers kept eating, and the flag is still hanging proudly. 🇲🇽 🍔
I wonder how offended he would be if he walked into Market Square🤔😬
