To all of the mushroom lovers…
Grab your hiking shoes and join us and our friend, Bryn Dentinger Bryn Mason Dentinger, Associate Professor, School of Biological Sciences Curator of Mycology at the Natural History Museum of Utah, as he leads us on a mushroom forage in the Uinta mountains. On Sunday, August 30, Bryn will be our guide as we discover different species of local edible fungi which will be prepared for your dinner that evening.
The day will begin at 7am, gathered as a group at the Natural History Museum Natural History Museum of Utah. Those attending should be prepared for a light hike, unpredictable conditions, and your own transportation for a 90 minute drive to the Uinta mountains. After the foraging excursion, all will return to SLC and the group will reconvene at 7pm in the evening at VENETO for a multi-course foraged dinner with wine pairings. A true forest-to-table dinner!
All are welcome for the Uintah excursion (for example, if you would like to bring kids on the hike, but they will not attend the dinner), $120 per person for those attending dinner at 7pm.

Please support our sister restaurant Via Veneto Pizzarium and their application for a liquor license waiver at the July 14 Salt Lake City Council public hearing. The meeting will be at 7:00pm, in room 315 of the City Building, 451 South State Street. Your attendance at the public hearing will get you an invitation to the party they will throw once the liquor license has been acquired. Cin!Cin! to pizza al taglio with a beer, glass of wine, and spritz in hand!

A new Salt Lake City pizzeria didn't waste much time testing a new state law, which allows restaurants to serve booze closer to parks.

Via Veneto Pizzarium, located at 511 E. 900 South, recently applied for a liquor license waiver, triggering a public process that was created through a law Utah lawmakers passed during this year's legislative session.

Among other things, HB597 allowed cities to grant waivers to primarily restaurants so they can potentially receive a liquor license despite being located within a 200-foot radius or a 300-foot path of parks, playgrounds or libraries.
